Wax Off!

No, this link, despite what it looks like, is not to a "One Night in Paris"-type DVD.  It’s actually to Madame Tussaud’s "Play Ball with Derek Jeter" installation, in which you have "your chance to strike out one of the game’s best hitters".  A wax figure of one of the game’s best hitters, just to be clear.  That’s gotta be tough, even with a fake Jeter. I mean, the guy’s a god, right?  I’ll take bets on how long the wax Jeter makes it unscathed.  I say a Sox fan strolls in there some random Saturday in the next month and leaves the glorified candle with embossed stitches on his forehead.  Next up: dodge a wax bat thrown by an inanimate Clemens!

  • In 2003 they tried a Grady Little figure, but the thing kept melting. Go figure.

    Makes interlocutors smirk
Shall during off hours exhibit his powers
    On Madame Tussaud’s waxwork”
