Welcome back, Curt: Twins-Sox gamer II

Sorry this is late. The Twins are a half game behind Detroit in the AL central. Boston can play spoiler to their aspirations and stay alive, at least mathematically speaking, with a win tonight as Schilling returns to the mound for the first time since August 30th. Boof Bosner is throwing for the Minnesota. Comment away.

  • I’m rooting for the Sox tonight. Don’t want Yanks to back into the playoffs :)

  • I’m rooting for Papi to homer tonight…twice if it can be managed. That’s about it, really.

  • Schilling’s at almost 80 pitches after 3 innings…guess whatever was bothering him (oblique?) still is.

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 8:04 pm
  • 100 pitches through 5. I assume that’s it?

    Devine September 20, 2006, 8:33 pm
  • Devine gets his wish!

  • There’s #50! Got what I want out of the evening. One more, Papi, one more. Ten games to go, right?

    Devine September 20, 2006, 8:57 pm
  • Hey YM, how’s it goin’?

  • after A Rod getting the MVP in Texas a few years back, how can they not justify giving it to Ortiz? 50 homers with 10 games left and he missed a week great season for Papi.

  • Goin’ good, thanks! Watching Yanks-Jays, trolling Sox thread…life’s good :)

  • SO CLOSE to another RBI for Pedroia there. Instead out #3 in the 7th.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:21 pm
  • Man, Hansen’s just been pathetic this year.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:26 pm
  • Case in point. Can’t say I’m that upset, though, since Minnesota are probably the team in the AL I’d like to win it all at this point.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:29 pm
  • He’s still very young…give him a little time.

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 9:29 pm
  • Yeah yeah yeah. Have you had to wait a year to make the playoffs recently?

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:31 pm
  • I’m not saying he’s bad forever. But he clearly is bad now. People turn their careers around or have rough starts. I’m not writing him off. It’s just very clear that he’s been very not-good THIS year.

  • Looks like Minnesota’s about to turn this into a romp.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:33 pm
  • I think he’s been really rushed, Devine.

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 9:46 pm
  • Blah…the Sox could do at least try to put up a fight!

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 9:49 pm
  • As opposed to Delcarmen or Lester?

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:49 pm
  • Erm…I tried to speak English there, I swear.
I don’t know about MDC. Lester’s had a bit more minor league experience, though, didn’t he? And all of them had been rushed to some degree out of necessity. Unfortunately.

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 9:52 pm
  • I don’t know that you can accuse them of not putting up a fight. Minus Hansen, this game is tied.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:53 pm
  • Here comes another Ortiz at-bat after the pitching change.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 9:58 pm
  • Walked on 4 pitches, and the pitcher is immediately pulled. No Twins fans or Sox fans are happy with you, jackass.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 10:01 pm
  • Nothing like handing it to the Yankees. atleast our AA team won the Championship this year.

    TJ September 20, 2006, 10:14 pm
  • Thaaaaaaa Yankees clinch. THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Yankees clinch.
(Well, not yet, but really, let’s be honest here.)

    Devine September 20, 2006, 10:17 pm
  • I just laughed out loud at Varitek’s swinging 3-pitch K. It was hi-LAR-ious.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 10:22 pm
  • Official.

    Devine September 20, 2006, 10:23 pm
  • Yep. Sorry Sox fans (seriously). Hopefully everyone can get healthy and the race will be on next year!

    yankeemonkey September 20, 2006, 10:25 pm
  • So New England by 14 over the Broncos?

    TJ September 20, 2006, 10:26 pm
  • Hansen was certainly rushed more than MDC or Lester. Hansen has had not even a full season of minor league ball at this point.

for the Portland Sea Dogs and GCL Red Sox

    TJ September 20, 2006, 11:19 pm
  • Remember that Hansen was drafted in June 2005. He graduated from St. John’s the month before (I think), so in roughly 14 months, he’s gone from pitching in college to pitching to Torii Hunter with two men on base.
Yeah, he’s been rushed. He’ll get better.
