When YFSF Attacks: Introducing The Gerb

Actually, if you read this site with any regularity, then you really need no introduction at all to the newest member of the YFSF masthead: The Attackgerbil. It’s safe to say we’ve all come to appreciate his insight into the game and this rivalry, and of course no game thread is the same (not to mention long) without his presence. And what with our newest BFF Curt S. chiming in regularly with the Sox perspective, it only seemed fair that we even up things around here. We fully expect you to treat the Gerb with all of the reverence and dignitude shown to the likes of SF, Nick, Paul, and myself—that is, none. But we do hope you’ll join us in celebrating our latest acquisition. (Eat your heart out Theo.) Heck, we feel like dancing.

Best,
YF & SF

  • Welcome, AG, and congrats! Now we SFs can heckle you with impunity. Not that we haven’t been already…

  • Wow, I haven’t seen the hamster dance in years.

  • Well, I like this free agent acquisition…but in this town he’s gotta come through in the clutch. Otherwise, we’ll have to go all Steve Phillips and trade him for 60 cents on the dollar.

  • Thank you very much. It’s great to be here. I just got to my office this morning, which actually consists of a running wheel, some cedar shavings and a water bottle.

  • And some translucent yellow tubing, of course?

  • YF – hamsters are not gerbils. That’s like confusing Sidney Ponson with a big league starting pitcher…eh? Oh.

  • Of course! A whole maze of it. But no matter which way I turn, I find myself stuck back in the same place.
Sadness strikes as this banter is starting to hold up as a rather apt personal metaphor.
Oh well. Back to the wheel. Whee!

  • AG, good job. Should make those two people threads much easier.

  • SF Rod – Having grown roughly three hours from Toronto on the south side of Lake Ontario, I can tell you that they do indeed exist. Unfortunately, both of them are a few Export Ales short of a six pack and only bought Jays tickets because they were told it was a Leafs summer league.
Jays Fan #1: “No, seriously? The Leafs play in the summer? That’s sweet, eh?”
Huckster: “Oh yah. They play nine-on-nine, and the games run aboot 3 and a half hours, eh?” – Huckster
Jays Fan #2: “No way! I’m going.”
Jays Fan #1: “Me too! You drive the van, ’cause I’m hosed. And this time don’t get lost going through Kitchener, eh?”
Overheard at their first game, “I never knew there were so many Dominican skaters, eh?”
“Yah, seriously. And what’s with the albino puck?”

    YF July 27, 2006, 2:14 pm
