Where’s The Beef? Yanks-O’s Gamer VIII

The Yankees offense, having looked rather anemic in its ability to plate runs for the last 20 innings, looks to regain some of its swagger as Bombers battle Baltimore and Brian Burres, who has yet to face New York this season. Rocket is on the bump; he’s been solid in his last two starts, giving up 3 runs in 13 innings. Comment away.

  • Tek (single) brings Manny (double) home, 1-0 Sox in the top of the second.
I just wanted to say, after reading about some trade rumors for Texeira: While Tex. is a fearsome hitter, I am very leery of any trade that might mean that Mike Lowell does not finish the year in Boston.
Lowell has been an essential anchor of this lineup, especially during the Manny “slump.” I’m not a stathead and can’t tell you his “win share,” but anecdotal observation says to me that the Sox would not have an 8-game lead in the A.L. East without Mike Lowell’s .305 average and 73 RBI.
He’s no slouch with the leather, either.

  • Shields walks in the second run. He seems to have used up all his strikes in the first inning.

  • Just checking in and I see the Yanks managing to notch 1 hit. It’s 75 degrees and sunny at 6:06pm here on the left coast. I think I will go back outside. Night all.
