The Boston Red Sox beat the Hanshin
Giants Tigers this morning (3:30 Eastern, to be exact), 6-5. David Ortiz and J.D. Drew hit home runs, while Clay Buchholz, given a five-run lead, couldn’t make it out of the fourth. Jonathan Papelbon got the save. All in all, not too bad, though it sure would be nice if Buchholz could put together a decent outing.
Manny Ramirez, Mr. Talkative ever since his walk-off homer in the ALDS last October, says his goal is to hit more than 600 home runs — and be good enough to force the Red Sox to pick up both his options and sign him to a four-year contract.
Bartolo Colon looked and felt good during three innings of a minor-league game this morning. His next stop is LA, where he’ll face the Dodgers during one of the three exhibitions there.
