Win Another Series: Sox-Rays Gamer III

The Sox haven’t lost a series in three weeks (since dropping two of three to the White Sox) and have won outright 4 of their last 5 (tied 2-2 in the 4-game, 2-venue set with the Phillies).

Aceves makes the start after Morales had to come to the rescue on Monday. Call-up De La Torre threw admirably yesterday, pitching the final 3.1 innings of yesterday for the Sox (a homer to the first batter he faced and no runs thereafter), saving the rest of the pen from more wear and tear, and they may be required a lot tonight. With Aceves, you just don’t know if you’re getting 6 innings of 1-run ball or 4 innings of 8-run ball. Chris Archer hurls the pill for the Rays, and has not enough of a major league track record to make a call on his abilities. So it’s question marks wild tonight.

The epic conclusion to a wild series…and then more of the same next week when the Sox have 3 games against the Rays at Fenway in 2 days. Comment, sirs and ladies.

  • We get good Aceves. Six innings of 1-run ball, indeed (Longoria solo smash in the 6th). He’ll probably get a leash in the 7th too. Sox lead 2-1 after 6 on the strength of a Nava 2-run, 2-out shot in the 3rd.
