Yesterday Sucked, Make Today Better: Sox-O’s Gamer III

Lost a series against this stupid orange team again despite multiple opportunities to put them away yesterday. Rays were an out away from losing and ended up winning. Magic # hovers at 3. At least Oakland and Detroit lost (best AL record magic # now 8).

Tillman (done well against the Sox all year) vs. Lackey (2 very good starts, one bad one against BAL). Comment away.

  • Rangers leading 6-2 in St. Pete. Tito’s boys can’t really get it going in Houston, 1-1.

  • Adam Jones ends the no-hitter with a no-doubter over the Monster. And now suddenly this is a close game.

  • Lackey answers with striking out Markakis.

  • Another base hit but also another impressive inning from Lackey. Now at exactly 100 pitches after 8.

I expected him to be reasonably good this year but definitely not that good.

  • Yea, October baseball!!

That was nice and quick. Lackey goes the distance, two-hitter.

And the Rays are losing right now. So the magic number to clinch the division might be down to 1 in about an hour.

  • Could be a great night for Cleveland who are actually playing at home, not in Houston, but are still tied 1-1 after 8. Go Tito!

  • Lackey was tremendous in this game. “Screw your paltry run support; I’ll do it myself.”

    Go Texas, go Tito Tribe!
