YFSF Fantasy Baseball Update

Brad writes,

ESPN has sent me an official email declaring that all the problems with the fantasy baseball league have been solved.  Please head over to the homepage and read the updates I’ve posted for us.  There will be some significant changes due to the fact that we are losing two teams who have completely dropped their players to waivers (one of which is Ron Burgandy, my accidental team).  The opening page contains a letter from me, which should explain everything in detail.  I’m sorry for all the confusion surrounding ESPN’s issues, and in hindsight, I can only say that they’re not in the early running for hosting this next year.  To date, it’s been fun, and hopefully everyone isn’t too soured by the glitches from the host and maintains interest.  Any question on how to properly lay claim can be sent directly to me at my email.

Thanks,
Brad

  • no problemo. I’m excited to follow the developments. (Un?)fortunately, I resisted the temptation to get in on the action. I’ve never played fantasy ball before, fearing addiction.

  • I’m not in your league, but I’m wicked pissed at ESPN fantasy leagues. I went from 9-1 to 4-6 (mostly because the guy I was H@H with traded Arod on the first day, but now he gets Arod’s stats…), I lost Wickman and Torres back to the waiver wire and reverted back to my autodraft roster with Lidge, Hermanson, and Freddy Garcia. And my commish is being an ass about the whole thing. Wicked pissed.

  • I missed 3 saves, Adrian Gonzalez, who was on the bench because of an offday (3 HR, 9 RBI), 16 K’s and a decreased ERA/WHIP. I, too, am fairly upset, particularly with the loss of Gonzalez’s numbers. But so it goes…it happened to everyone, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who got a little screwed.

  • Yeah, I’m going to do a update for the site every couple weeks or so…just a little write up to who’s dominating. :)

  • Sad I missed out on this too. But ESPN fantasy baseball is the worst. I had similar problems two years ago with them. It was during drafting so we switched to a chat room draft and immediately set up with yahoo, who we had been using for years. We only made the switch to ESPN because a guy in the league had espn fantasy as a client of his. I love yahoo and next best is cbs. I have no idea why espn has had so many problems especially when they are spending large advertising dollars on fantasy.
What style you guys doing roto or head to head? 5×5? Is it a keeper league?

  • Fantastic. Thanks to the rainout, Tavarez is slotted to pitck the Baltimore game I’m going to in two weeks. This is pretty much the worst thing that could have happened.

  • Sorry about leaving the league. Between ESPN’s foul-ups and poor interface, and my having two leagues already on Yahoo, I didn’t have time.
Maybe dropping all my players to waivers wasn’t exactly the fairest way to go about things, heheh. If Brad is capable of it, get him to give you Johan Santana if you missed out on any players from my team.

  • For lack of a more pertinent thread to post this in… Does anyone know whether yesterday’s postponement means that the Sox may skip Tavarez’s turn in the rotation?
Wakefield goes tonight, that’s all I’ve been able to find out.

  • I’m hearing form one source (Globe) that it’s Wakefield, then Schilling, then Beckett, then Tavarez (Patriot’s Day), then Matsuzaka.

  • Kazz, I moved him to waivers, along with Burgandy’s team and everyone on it. That means, the lowest ranking player now will have the best shot at getting him. No harm, buddy… glad you got in on it for as long as you did.

  • What a complete disaster ESPN has been on this, and with their fantasy sports in general. I’m a league commish there too, and have spent way too much time this week trying to explain to my managers what exactly is going on (not that anyone knew). Try to call the number they post, and you get some poor kid in India that has been handed a script to read back to you, hardly prepared to deal with ANGRY BASBEBALL MANAGER GUY…heh. Never again!
