That is how much time is left in the negotiating window for Adrian Gonzalez or the trade will supposedly evaporate. Should be a fun couple of hours plus on the intertubes.

if the sox are smart they won’t nickel and dime this thing…give him a blank check and let him fill in a crooked number and as many 0’s as he wants…
We predict a six year extension on top of the current year, with an average per year of $23.25M for those six years. The deal will therefore appear as 7/147+.
That’s our .02.
Or it falls through. Or the Sox keep him for a year and negotiate. But we’re counting on a Dice-K last minute thing.
wow…never thought i’d hear those kinds of numbers and years kicked around about a sox player…well, there was manny, but he was an exception, i suppose…good luck though, that guys probably gonna be worth ever nickel…
I think a 6-year extension is most likely as well.
Does anyone know how his defense is? I know he has 2 gold gloves, but those aren’t worth much these days.
I think defense rep is good, better than average. I don’t know where UZR puts him, Pinto, etc. But all the hearsay I have read these last couple of days state he is a good defensive player.
My clock says 5 minutes to go. Lots of silence this last hour, and typically silence is good.
I do find the arbitrary 2pm deadline amusing. I am not sure I get it, what is preventing them from deciding to spend more of the afternoon hammering this out, other than the creation of pressure on the negotiation (or drama)?
I realize the Sox probably want the ability to back out of the deal, but why 2pm today and not 5pm? What’s to prevent a small extension?
My cable box just hit 2pm, and no loud boom outside my window. Wait, that’s not true, a truck just hit their air brakes on the BQE.
“Deadline” passed.
According to mlbtraderumors.com, as of 10 minutes ago both sides were at a standstill. Hrmmm.
Now tweets that deal has fallen apart. If true, that really sucks.
Sources say the deal fell through. Ugh.
so who set the deadline?…is that imposed by mlb, the sox, or gonzo’s people?…the globe has something out there that says this:
“…However, one American League executive speaking on the condition of anonymity said he believed Gonzalez was seeking an eight-year deal worth about $160 million. It seemed doubtful the Sox would go that far, but a compromise seemed likely.”…”
a few other tidbits from the article:
“…Gonzalez’s dream has been to play for the Red Sox and the Red Sox’ dream is to have Gonzalez play for them…”
“…There had been a lot of talk about Ellsbury being a part of any Gonzalez deal, but it appears the Padres wanted to go younger. There also are very real injury concerns about Ellsbury….”
is this trade jed hoyer’s christmas present to theo?…what would we do without “anonymous sources”?…

jake brakes are remarkably similar in tone to the loser horn medley from the “Price Is Right”
“…Sources say the deal fell through. Ugh….”
but again, why couldn’t they continue to negotiate?…
Top post up on the topic. Deal for a contract extension may have fallen through, it isn’t yet clear if the trade is undone.
