All My Exes Live In Texas: Yanks-Astros Gamer I

Shawn Chacon is on the mound for Houston tonight. This will be the second time the Yankees have faced the righty since he was traded for Craig Wilson at the deadline in the ’06 season; he was shelled by the Bombers last June in a start for Pittsburgh. He’s a slightly better pitcher this year than he was in his brutal ’06 turn in the Bronx, but not by much and has given up 11 runs over six innings in his last two starts.

Joba gets his third start for the Yankees tonight. Damon is the odd-man-out as the Yankees play their first game visiting a Senior Circuit team. Jeter leads off and Robi Cano, an impatient, slumping hitter with questionable base-running skills and a ridiculously low walk rate who went 0-5 the only time he faced the opposing pitcher (in fact he was the only Yankee to not get a hit off Chacon last year) is in the two-hole. Hmm.

  • So much for my snarkiness. Cano walks in his first AB.
