Will the Sox descend into acrimony (see below)? Have the Yanks finally overcome their nemesis (see below also)? As the games tick off, the race tightens. Keep your eye on the al-important loss column, and remember that a tiebreaker game would be played in Freddy’s borough.
Boston: 60 losses
New York: 62 losses
Cleveland: 62 losses
LosAngels: 63 losses
Oakland: 64 losses
Right, and the Sox could never possibly pull it together enough to win an important game in Yankee Stadium.
“will they”? Read up, YF. They are already there.
With the Sox’ bullpen, I think “Down the stench they come” might be more appropriate.
You can look at the numbers, Boston has outpitched the Yankees this month. That may change, but as of yesterday, the Sox era this month was 3.72, the Yankees was 4.45. Appearances can be deceiving. The Sox may have a tendency to blow up, but so have the Yankees, it’s just that Mo makes the Yankees look a little better than they really are.
Remaining Schedule:
Yanks: 7 vs. Baltimore, 6 vs. Toronto, 3 vs. Boston, and 1 vs. Tampa Bay
BoSox: 4 vs. Oakland, 4 vs. Toronto, 3 vs. Tampa Bay, 3 vs. Baltimore, and 3 vs. NYY
17 games remain for each team but that only adds up to 161 for NY so they must also have an 18th unmade up game in there somewhere.
Neither team can pitch, both can score runs by the bucket-full, and the final three games are at the holy church of baseball in the Fens. Is this good theatre or what?
GO SOX!
