Anyone Get The Number Of That Truck? Rays-Yanks Gamer II

Oof. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try it again. Andy Pettitte makes his debut for the Yankees today, who hope to distance themselves from yesterday’s dismal outing while facing Edwin Jackson and the Rays, who find themselves sitting atop the AL East with the Orioles. Huh.

  • Andy picks off Johnson. HA! He’s looked pretty decent so far, but it would be nice to, you know, actually get him some run support…

  • Through 5 games, Yankee pen looks pretty good (sans Hawkins and Farns, obv).

    yankeemonkey April 5, 2008, 4:06 pm
  • That was frustrating.

  • Glad for two, and only two, things:
A: FOX blackout (first time I’ve been glad for that)
B: Stuck at work today anyway (always glad to have a job)
I have yet to watch a regglar season game live this year; it’s all been DVR which feels like cheating (not in a Patriot-sort-of-way, but those advertisers need my eyeballs I’m told). Maybe tomorrow, we’ll see.

Not to bait, but isn’t this like saying, “The Sox lineup looks pretty good (except for Ortiz and Ramirez).” If those two are the “except for,” that doesn’t sound good to me…

    Paul SF April 5, 2008, 4:42 pm
  • I know, Paul. But i don’t think either Hawk or Kyle are as critical for Yankees success as Manny and Ortiz are for for the Sox’.

    yankeemonkey April 5, 2008, 4:48 pm
  • Farnsworth and Hawkins arent nearly as important to the success of the Yankees as Ortiz and Manny are for the Sox. That said, id be surprised if both Farnsworth or Hawkins are on the team come September. If these guys pitch like they have over the past few seasons, they will force the yankees hand to trade or DFA at least one of them.
I like the rest of the parts of the pen and the options coming up from Scranton. It is too early to say they are good enough to last the season.
