Wandering through the Armory Show of Contemporary Art yesterday in NYC and stumbled upon, of all things, Sox and Yanks. First, the photography of David Levinthal (click on the “baseball” link), who has completed a series of Polaroid photographs of miniature baseball figurines. At the fair I turned a corner and was confronted with a diptych of Teddy Ballgame and Thurman Munson. Quite the pairing.
A bit later, two photographs from the late 70s by Stephen Shore, one of Billy Martin, another of Graig Nettles, both at spring training.
So, a little welcome oasis of the athletic amongst the esoteric.
