A’s on the Block: Swisher Traded

Via MLB Trade Rumors, Nick Swisher has been traded for a strong prospect package to the White Sox. The AL Central gets stronger, and Oakland continues its fire sale. As MLB Trade Rumors points out, veterans such as Huston Street, Mark Ellis, and Joe Blanton could be the next to go. I’d sure like Street in the Yankees bullpen, but I’d imagine he’d be quite costly.

The first move of the new year could lead to many more. What a busy hot stove it’s been.

  • I am sure I am not alone, but I am a huge Nick Swisher fan. This is a huge pickup for the White Sox. I understand they gave up a lot, but this guy is the goods. His 35 HR’s in 2006 should be easily surpassed in his new confines. Only part of the trade I don’t like is his defense in CF. According to the reports he’s going to be the everyday CF’r. He’s not terrible, but he is better suited in the corners.
OCab, Swisher, Thome, Konerko, Dye…that’s pretty darn good!

  • He’s on my keeper fantasy team and I couldnt be happier. His BA will go up without the huge foul territory in oakland too as well as the real protection in the lineup.
