Back in the Game: Friday Gamer

Though the Yanks played last night, tonight the break officially ends as the Sox are also back in the game. Use this thread to comment on the evening’s action, of all ilks.

Oh, and big congrats to Derek Jeter. We hear he got a hit or something.

(that’s for you, dc!)

  • Had a brutal week at work, my wife’s car is on the fritz and my dog is very, very sick. I have a case of beer and need a Yankee victory to lift my spirits.
    This should be interesting.
    GO YANKEES!!!!

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:00 pm
  • Way to go Yankees…1st and 2nd with no outs…#3, #4 and #5 hitters…fail.
Jesus Christ we are fucking terrible. It is sickening.
Now let’s see how many Freddy can give up in the 1st???
LET’S GO YANKEES!!!! The worst team $200 million can buy baby!!!
    3 months until hockey.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:21 pm
  • Two walks and 20+ pitches for Miller, three batters in. At least the bullpen is rested.
    Miller not remotely sharp.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:25 pm
  • Here we go again…0-1.
I turned off the game after 1 last night, looks like we are heading down the same path.
We are fucking terrible. This team is a joke. Straight up.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:26 pm
  • The Sox may win the East by double-digits…unless the Rays catch fire. More likely their shit stadium does though so the Sox are good.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:27 pm
  • Upton rope. 4 batters, two walks and a hit, one out. Miller looks terrible. Sox coming back into real play with a thud.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:28 pm
  • Well, Freddy got out of the 1st only giving up 1 run…that’s a fucking miracle.
Let’s see the bottom of our mighty order do something…ha.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:30 pm
  • 30 plus pitches for Miller now. Ug. Lee.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:31 pm
  • HIP HIP actually got a hit!!!!
    DP is inevitable.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:32 pm
  • What does a manager think in a situation like this? He has to see that his pitcher is awful. Is he just like “well, such is life, gotta grin and bear it and see what happens”, or is he thinking “this sucks”, some combination?
Miller only gives up the one run, but what a laborious, painful inning to view.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:34 pm
  • OK, here we go again…1st and 2nd with no outs…
Can SOMEONE hit the FUCKING BALL with RISP??? Please???

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:35 pm
  • I feel you SF, I feel you…

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:35 pm
  • Yay. Darnell McDonald hitting 6th.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:38 pm
  • NUNEZ RBI SINGLE!!!! 1-1!!! 1st and 2nd with 1 out for Captain 3000…

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:39 pm
  • Darnell hit a home run. I am an asshole.
    A reverse-jinxing asshole.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:39 pm
  • Don’t beat yourself up SF…
    Jeter K’s. We suck.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:41 pm
  • Salty walks.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:41 pm
  • 4 runners stranded in 2 innings so far…1-for-5 with RISP by my count…man we are good. I mean NOT good. ZERO chance of winning in the playoffs, if we even make it.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:43 pm
  • How much money are we going to pay CC when he opts out…$30 million a year???? He’s the only starter worth a shit on this team.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:50 pm
  • 0 RUNS IN THE 2ND???? WTF???

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:53 pm
  • More walks then a horrid decision by Salty. Someone tell the Sox the break is over.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:53 pm
  • Tex fail. HR or nothing for him…

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:56 pm
  • Is Papi serving his suspension SF?

    krueg July 15, 2011, 7:56 pm
  • No. Probably appealing as usual.
Miller is terrible tonight. It was clear in the first that he would give up a bundle of runs. Has a manager ever just taken a guy out early and BEFORE he shit the bed? That would be novel. You would think that at least once some enterprising manager would think “this will not end well” and take action before it didn’t end well. Alas this is not the night.

    SF July 15, 2011, 7:59 pm
  • EASY 1-2-3 inning against our #3, #4 and #5 hitters, i.e losers fucking row.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 8:00 pm
  • That’s what I thought.
You mean i.e. Fat Bartolo last night??? Joe yanked his sorry-fat ass with a quickness!!!

    krueg July 15, 2011, 8:01 pm
  • Jorge is beyond horrible. Have some fucking pride and retire dude. Do us all a favor.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 8:14 pm
  • Really can’t figure out what Francona is waiting for. The three run deficit can be overcome, it’s only the third. Miller is one bad pitch away from a six run deficit, Elliot Johnson missed a three run jack by inches.
It’s not like the extra batter or two is going to kill the pen, it’s only the third inning and Miller ain’t going five, even, the way he is pitching.

    SF July 15, 2011, 8:21 pm
  • So make that 6-2.
My bet is Francona comes out now. I mean, WHY WAIT?

    SF July 15, 2011, 8:22 pm
  • 1 out double off Freddy…we have failure written all over this team.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 8:23 pm
  • Wrong. Francona still on his ass. Waiting for an even bigger deficit.
I really don’t get this. Either you are trying to keep your team in the game or not. But in the third inning trying to squeeze two extra batters out of your pitcher is irrelevant. Either make the move or leave this guy in for 120 pitches and save everyone. But why wait until it’s 7 or 8-2 just a couple of batters later.
Now ANOTHER walk. And Francona comes out. Honestly, this is moronic managing.

    SF July 15, 2011, 8:24 pm
  • As I was typing…another double…1-2. FUCK THIS BULLSHIT. I’m done. I have better things to do on a Friday night then watch this PATHETIC FUCKING GARBAGE TEAM lose YET ANOTHER FUCKING GAME.

    krueg July 15, 2011, 8:25 pm
  • Walking in a run wasn’t what he came in for. But still, can Aceves pitch four innings each day? If Lackey is his usual self tomorrow and Beckett’s knee acts up again on Sunday we may need him to.

pale blue eyes July 15, 2011, 8:31 pm
  • There’s a comeback in this Sox team. I can sense it.
(it might not be tonight, but it’s there!)

    SF July 15, 2011, 8:54 pm
  • Has Tito ever taken out a starter when he looks like he may shit the bed?, not that I recall. He has a tendency to see if starters can work their way out of t, something about trying to make sure their confidence doesn’t get shot or something.

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 9:04 pm
  • Chipping, though probably won’t be able to catch.

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 9:44 pm
  • Millwood left tonight’s PawSox start with a 3-1 lead, if holds he will be 9-0 in AAA, do they bring home up to take Miller’s next star? Or does he deserve another start based on what he did leading up to tonight’s suckfest?

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 9:50 pm
  • A-Gon loses the ball in the tropicana roof and misses the foul pop-up, next pitch a double…then the next hitter hits a grounder to 1st and Adrian throws the runner out at third.

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 9:56 pm
  • Meant to say PawSox would be 9-0 on Millwood start in AAA

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 9:59 pm
  • The free fall begins…ala last year. As opposed to every year I can remember where we dominated the 2nd half of the season.
This team is FINISHED. Like always, when the ownership group is running things we are FUCKED. I don’t even blame Cash. It’s clear after the Soriano failure, I mean signing, that he has little to no power.
    We are a FUCKING JOKE!!!!

    krueg July 15, 2011, 10:02 pm
  • Chip

    BillsBurgSF July 15, 2011, 10:11 pm
  • Drew sucks, he really needs to go…why not Reddick there.
