BCvBC: Yanks-Royals Gamer

Bartolo Colon is on the mound for New York, Bruce Chen for KC.  Lackey and the Red Sox fell to St. Pete earlier today and the Yankees have notched two runs via a solo shot by Curtis Granderson, his 34th on the season, and (just now) a two-out hit by Swisher.  Comment away.

  • That was a shot by Gordon.

  • You suck now Bartolo. Thanks for the couple months of service. Goodbye.

  • Colon is serving a nice plate of meatballs tonight.

  • looks like a double instead. But still, he’s getting tagged.

  • homer upheld

  • Shit call. That ball clearly hit the top of the wall, the fence and then back into play. There is no line so apparently, all you have to do is hit the top of the wall and it’s a HR?
Whatever. Chen is going down. Hard.

  • A lot of the writers at the game on twitter are saying the umps got it wrong.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 9:15 pm
  • Probably from Quincy, MA or something…maybe Shrewsbury. There has to be a Shrewsbury somewhere in NE. Right?

    krueg August 17, 2011, 9:17 pm
  • This sucks. The Yankees are losing in Kansas City Missouri and the Portland Timbers are losing in Kansas City Kansas.

  • Bruce Chen cannot be allowed to make it through 5 innings…ag and I could knock him out of the game with wiffle ball bats he is so terrible.
    Finish him.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 9:20 pm
  • You like the Timbers? Not the Sounders???

    krueg August 17, 2011, 9:21 pm
  • It would be fitting for the Yanks to lose this game to Chen
Not that I think it will happen………

  • Jeter with a 2-out double. Let’s get one back right now.

  • The Captain is on fire. 2 out double…

  • Good D by the Royales. Lame.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 9:27 pm
  • That was a fine play by Giavotella to rob Granderson of a single and probably another RBI.

  • Taking a break from this game for a bit.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 9:36 pm
  • Not looking good.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 9:44 pm
  • Dunno about that…
However, when one is reduced to the hope the KC and Bruce Chen will hold a lead, things are pretty bad.

  • I see they left Frenchy someone to double up

It was just as I thought it would be……..

  • Bruce Chen just had a Quality Start against the NYYs
This says nothing good whatever about Bruce Chen, the NYYs, or Quality Starts……….

  • Noesi is a solid young pitcher.

  • Captain Clutch singles to lead off the 7th…

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:15 pm
  • Curtis walks…1st and 2nd…no outs…

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:19 pm
  • Robbie?

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:20 pm
  • Nope.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:22 pm
  • Swish?

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:22 pm
  • Nope. Not our night.
The Sox lost so we’re still in first.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 10:26 pm
  • The Sox got fewer hits in the last TWO games than either NY or KC already got in this one.
Saw the triple play last night in person…….but that’s thin gruel now

  • Nice hit, Curtis. Teix we need you.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 11:00 pm
  • They walk Teix on four pitches. Cano up, bases loaded. Robi time.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 11:02 pm
  • Long at bat for Cano results in a pop to LF, Jeter tags. Two away, Yankees down by one now.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 11:07 pm
  • Passed ball moves the runners up, then Swisher walks. Jorge up with two away and bases loaded. Cmon, George. Wish yourself a happy birthday.

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 11:10 pm
  • Very generous strike zone and Posada is down looking.
Is this game under protest from the botched HR call?

    attackgerbil August 17, 2011, 11:12 pm
  • Of course Posada made the final out. I was really hoping Swish would hit because obviously Jorge is an automatic out.
Didn’t take advantage of Boston losing.

    krueg August 17, 2011, 11:14 pm
  • “Very generous strike zone and Posada is down looking.”
I agree, that ball was outside but not by much. It certainly was close enough to be swinging at with 2 strikes on you. Wasn’t that one of the first things we all learned about hitting, protect the plate with 2 strikes?
