Blowghard

By now it’s old news that Curt Schilling has a blog.  I suppose that means he won’t be stopping around these parts any more, and that stinks.  But does he really think anyone cares about his pop culture ramblings?  Check out this partially screen-captured post from last night (click on the image for a legible full-res version), which oddly disappeared almost immediately after we saw it.  We’re not sure we’re adding him to our blogroll, if it stays like this.

EDIT/DISCLAIMER:

Since there’s been some confusion, which I find somewhat funny in and of itself, this isn’t real.  For those of you who might honestly believe that Curt Schilling would spend time complaining about how the CHB doesn’t devote column space to ragging on American Idol contestants’ girth, he doesn’t.  I am also guessing he won’t be posting about how crazy he thinks Jen on "The Real World" is, about how an early 19th-century piggy bank was estimated at 11-14K on "Antiques Roadshow", or Tom Brady’s super-potent spermatazoa.   But I could be wrong.

i hope that blog wasn’t a sample of his best work…i don’t think that the thought of his not stopping around anymore is what is stinking sf…and, what difference does it really make if nobody “…cares about his pop culture ramblings?…” [sour grapes?]….i never found his musings very profound or particularly insightful anyway, so the only thing he really brought to the table was a little star-power, and i’m not all that star struck, by him, anyway…

  • Ugh. I am so glad Cashman is in power now, who knows what Steinbrenner could have had in store for a free agent Schilling. To think I’d actually have to ROOT for the guy.

  • There’s actually some pretty interesting stuff there—the baseball stuff—and I’m actually looking forward to more of it. We don’t have much (any) opportunity to get inside the head of an active player during the season, to get unfiltered perspective on the game and how it’s played, so this should, at the very least be an interesting exeriment, and I’m looking forward to it.

  • i can’t argue with you on that point yf…seeing the game through a player’s eyes would be of interest…at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, i plan to take a peek from time to time…

  • I like his policy of keeping comments open as long as the language is clean, and occassionally responding to them. Hopefully, that’s one feature that will stay.

  • Wow, these comments make me shudder to think what you guy would have done during Welles’ broadcast of “War of the Worlds”. I’d say something about humorless Yankees fans, but Paul didn’t seem to notice the “humor” tag either. Curt posting on the girth of Lakisha Jones? Are you guys kidding me?!

  • That’s quite obviously a fabrication. I set up the blog for Curt, and there are a few pieces to the puzzle that were left unplaced to make it obvious (yes, I know you intended to make it look like a fabrication, but not everyone noticed):
    1) The font color is wrong. It should be #223355, not black or grey.
    2) The text is not justified like it really is in the blog.
    3) The text goes too far to the right.
    4) The text starts too far below the title.
    5) The text is rendered in Photoshop, not an internet browser (note how it is smooth and almost looks bold).
Anyway, it was a good job. I was about 30 seconds away from an email to one of my coworkers at 38 Studios about the post.
And on Idol: If you want hot ladies who are trying to sing and dance for a contract, watch that Pussycat Dolls thing on The CW. I found it a couple days ago and it rocks.

  • Everyone:
    THIS IS A JOKE.
I never expected that people would believe that Curt was spending time on his brand new blog ragging on Lakisha Jones for being chunky and escaping the wrath of the CHB, but I guess I underestimated people. Perhaps this says more about Schilling than it does my abilities as a humorist.
    OY.

  • Hey SF, for what it’s worth, I got it and thought it was funny. Curt does have some good stuff up there and I look forward to seeing the season unfold from a players point of view.

  • Hey, I saw the Humor tag. Just chose not to comment on the humor. It made me smile, though.

  • people, aliens are coming after us!!! A man with a deep and resonant voice just said it over the radio!!!
    SF, great work.

  • You know, the fact that the post’s title doesn’t show up in the “Recent Posts” section of the edit should have been a gigantic tip-off, too.

  • it was funny even without the humor tag, but i’ll be honest and admit i bit…good one sf…however, it doesn’t change my earlier comments about his [curt’s] ability to “carry” a blog [at 7:43am mar.8]…just substitute any of his inane droning for the joke post, and there you have it…
