Which is Superman and which is Batman? I don’t know, really. It’s a crap metaphor anyway. Jon Niese v. Nathan Eovaldi in the rubber match on Sunday Night Baseball.

These Miracle Mets have won eleventy hundred games in a row, and that’s a big thing, if you are a Mets fan. Jacob deGrom will be on the bump for the hottest commodity in hyperbole. Meanwhile, in the real world, the Yankees are sending Pineda to the bump.
Let’s do this thing.
Justin Verlander is being sat today to figure out what ails him, so the Yankees face southpaw Kyle Lobstein, who has eight major-league games to his name of which one was a win over the Yankees last August. Nathan Eovaldi got no decisions from his previous two starts for the Bombers this season. It’s hard to be cheerful after Sabathia took the loss last night after the mini-rally by the Tigers in the seventh, but hey, it’s only April and the Yanks are only two away from Boston. Chin up.
Michael Pineda and the Yankees take on the Rays who have rookie Matt Andriese on the mound in a getaway game at the Trop. After the Yankees try to sweep the series, it’s off to Tiger Town.

Sorry I’m late, I was coaching young gerbil’s game earlier today and lost track of the time when I got back. 4-4 at the plate today.. woohoo. Since then, the Yanks are underway at the Trop with no score, Tanaka on the bump for the good guys.

I imagine it is a common homonym error, but it is personally a fond memory for me when I sat down to watch a game and my young son thought, several years ago, that the Yankees were playing the cookies. Unfortunately, it’s the O’s that own the cookie jar and have won 13 out of the last 19 meetings. Miguel Gonzalez for the Birds, with C.C. Sabathia coming off a disappointing debut.

The Yankees were 6-13 against the the Orioles last year. There is no reason to expect more this season. If you are going to go to Baltimore, enjoy some local music along with some soft shell crab.
Let’s see what prize awaits us tonight on ESPN with Buccholz and Tanaka in da Bronx.

Devine is away, and I have been dealing with RL stuff. Tried to post gamers from my phone and failed miserably. I’m back at the wheel, albeit belatedly.
Sabathia vs. Norris, who should so be a Texas Ranger. Instead, his bluegrass roots are with the Blue Jays, who are no longer a threat to go undefeated over a 162 game season, but watch for them Royals! Comment away.
So far it looks like the real deal.
Oops forgot about the time zone thing. I should just set my phone to east coast and me done with it, live my life that way.
Comment away and happy baseball.
Hiroki Kuroda faces Kevin Gausman at Yankee Stadium today, the final home game of the season. There’s a player departing Yankee Stadium for the last time today as well. I was fortunate enough to see him in the minors, facing the Rochester Red Wings (who were then a Baltimore affiliate) at Silver Stadium back in the mid 90’s. It was an impressive debut in Rochester for the up-and-coming shortstop for the Clippers, and even then his presence was something palpable. You knew he would go on to greatness. We didn’t know that he would then go on to write such a story for the most storied franchise in baseball. Like last season with Mo, it is difficult to accept that Jeter’s tenure as a ballplayer has come to an end. But it is indeed the end of his time, and time for new stories to be writ.
Thanks, Captain. Comment away.
The Astros score more runs than the Yankees do. The Astros.
But today, Michael Pineda pitches, and to think that he might throw a gem of a game when there is a small chance the Yankees will be the plucky underdog?
Nolan Ryan had a tough gig with that kind of joint.
Shane Greene was fantastic his last time on the bump, going eight innings with five hits and three walks but allowing no runs against Detroit. Drew Smyly gets the start for the Rays at the Trop; he’s been great since coming over from Detroit at the beginning of August. The battle for third place continues. Comment away.
