Chasing: Sox-Jays Gamer

If the season ended today…the season would end today.  The Sox are no longer a playoff team, at least not at the moment. Tonight they try to claw their way back up the standings. On the road. So don't expect much.

Discuss what is likely to be excruciatingly boring baseball here.

(can you tell we're sour on our decrepit squad?)

No Pedroia, as he’s back in Boston with his pregnant wife. At least we’ve got Josh Beckett on the mound.

But I do hate to see the Large Father going into home with a hand tag. He’s not exactly nimble.

Back home from a trip to go to the Iowa State Fair.

The lead grows, the lead shrinks. the lead grows, the lead shrinks, the lead grows, the lead shrinks. We can’t stand prosperity.

Lived in Mechanicsville in the 70s. Grew up in Des Moines. Went to Cornell. Escaped, I mean, moved out of Iowa in 1999.
This year’s talker at the fair was chocolate-covered bacon. Only in Iowa.

Whew. Lotta pitches for Pap, hope he has it in the 9th (he didn’t there, that’s for sure).

Sounded like a roller-coaster ride in Toronto. Beckett’s Cy Young chances took a bit of a hit with tonight’s stat line. And poor Bucholz seems to draw nothing but aces for opposing pitchers.
Also of possible (marginal) interest to SF’s: Smoltz to join the Cards.
