Clemens, Pettitte On The Market

As expected, Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte filed for free agency.  Also as expected, both are unsure whether they want to pitch next year.   Would you welcome either of these pitchers to your team, or would you rather look elsewhere?  Wikipedia has a handy chart to help you work on your shopping lists.

edit: The Daily News has a story on the pair. Corrected spelling; ag regrets the error.

  • I think Clemens is still a must have. Pettite? I’ll pass.

  • I wouldn’t mind Pettite for a #4 pitcher for a #4 money. Clemens is a bit old, and it depends on the asking price, but hey, if it’s the Yanks, he can show up in September if he wants to – that’s all that matters anyhow for the Yanks..

  • …pettite would easily be as good as beckett was last year…inconsistent, lots of homers, in other words, a #2 starter, with “potential”…

  • Wasn’t Pettite dragged into some steroid business at the end of last year? Was it credible at all?

  • I would be happy to see either pitching on a one year deal in a Sox uniform next year. Hell, if we gave Wells a two year deal, Pettite and Clemens must be worthy of one too.

  • I’ll take Pettite in the rear of the rotation, but Roger can take a hike. Pettite is still fairly young, a lefty, and has success in a major market. With the arm injury behind him now, he could be steal of the crop this year.
