Cover Your Bases: Angels-Yanks/Sox-Jays Gamer II

Weekend morning/afternoon fun as Santiago takes on Nuno while Buchholz takes on Morrow. Sorry I missed yesterday’s Yanks business, but since krueg would have been fuming and storming off by the 3rd, I don’t think anyone missed it. Happy Saturday!

  • Thanks, D.. Last night I went straight from work to the Blazers-Rockets game. That game was such a tease; the Blazers so easily could have been up 3-0 in the series. Worst of all was having to watch The Joey Crawford Show. Then I get to read the box score from last night’s Yanks-Halos, game, which obviously did nothing to earn its own thread. Ugh. Oh well.. I’m off to little league; the rain has abated and we will actually get to play a game this morning.

  • Nuno is getting hammered. This could be a lost weekend. Lost two weeks actually.

Meh. Just hang around until June, then trades.

  • Sox don’t score in 1st. Hope Buchholz brought his resin/sunscreen/sandpaper/Vaseline.

  • Still better than Morrow, though. Up 7-4 currently as Buchholz went 7, giving up 3 in the 1st.

Tazawa’s trying hard to cough it up (why does he suck so bad in Toronto?) as the tying run is up with no one out after a leadoff homer.

  • 7-5. Can Uehara get 5 outs, pretty please? At least get Capuano in there.

  • Capuano gets the second out, then has a hell of a battle with Jose Reyes, eventually loses on a 10-pitch walk. Bases loaded. And so…Uehara for 4 outs (we hope the last 3 are necessary).

  • Popped him up. Uehara is made of magic.

  • Bautista homers off Koji to start the bottom of the 9th. That’s Koji’s Achilles, the occasional homer. But hopefully he has it out of his system, still nursing a 1-run lead.

  • Single Navarro. Still one out.

  • Failed check swing. Strikes out. 1 more.

  • Single. 1st and 2nd, two out. Tying run in scoring position. Winning run at 1st.

  • Victory. Hard-fought. I picked a good time to finally tune in for a game.

  • gerbil junior, catching, made two plays at home today — a throw from the pitcher force and an unassisted force on a dribbler. Also a hustle single and an RBI. Proud Dad.

  • That’s awesome, ag!

  • Happy Sunday. Strange line-up today. No Papi even with an off-day coming up. Both catchers in the line-up and Gomes in right.
