So how did Buckner let that ball get through his legs? A revealing photo-investigation by our friends at UniWatch indicates that he was wearing a Chicago Cubs batting glove under his first baseman’s mitt.. Holy Crap! Did Bartman give it to him? Wow.

Uh, ever heard of Photoshop, YF? This has got to be a fake. 20 years later and this finally “comes to light”? Can Buckner please confirm?
Well Uniwatch certainly seemed to do their research. Call me a skeptic.
(and I always thought the reason the Red Sox blew it was because of Babe Ruth being sold, as opposed to a stupid batting glove. How come Dan Shaughnessy never thought of this?!)
Not enough book sales, SF. Only 28 years of history to tarnish with that brush, instead of 86.
Typo. Eighteen years.
umm, the operative word in that sentence would lead someone to believe that Shaughnessy actually THINKS
a quick google image hunt has me believing that his glove had a circular logo strikingly similar to that of the cubbies.
it might not be photoshopped.
Whether or not it is true, it is boring.
I thought we forgave the poor guy.
Guess maybe not all of us.
So true, Kazz. I’m amazed how much I don’t really care whether or not Buckner was wearing the proper batting gloves. 2004 has changed everything …
…even if 2004 hadn’t happened, buckner was persecuted unfairly by ALL of baseball [fans and media]…he was not the reason they lost…espn had a good “top 5 reasons you can’t blame…” show about it, and you really had to feel for the poor guy…as a yf i’ve played the “buckner card” with you guys before, and i may use it again, but i sincerely feel bad for him and his family, and i’m not proud of my teenie tiny part in perpetuating the myth that he was single-handedly responsible for continuing the losing streak…
