Dad was a bootlegger: A’s-Yanks Gamer I

No one is around but that doesn’t mean there aren’t games.

Joe Kennedy (Ha! His name is Joe Kennedy!) pitches for the A’s. Mike Mussina (his name sounds like "Mooooooooose–ina". Double ha!) goes for the the Yanks, which means it’s one of those special nights: Will Nieves is in the house!

  • Melky leads off with a nice bunt for a single.
Jeter pops out behind the plate (good play by Kendal).
Matsui (who should be batting 5th) grounds out to pitcher to 2nd.
A Rod with runner on first.

  • Why Joe won’t put his best hitter in the 3 hole while he waits for Abreu to get his act together is beyond me. Matsui has sub-par numbers in the three whole and A Rod is Alex Rodriguez.

  • RBI double for A Rod ( left center, short hopping off the wall).

  • Moose has a SO going through 5 and only two runs of support. Any predictions on which one of our bullpen heroes will blow this one?

  • OK, 76 pitches and the shutout intact through 6. Maybe he can go CG? Or 8 innings and Torre can dust off Mo for the ninth.

  • Yanks win for once. Nice. I forgot what it feels like.

  • Morning after reflections:
Wow, Joe yanked the Farnsmonster and put in Mo for a 4-out save? Is he learning a new trick? Does he read the LoHud blog? Does Kyle realize that Mo also saved his ERA from blowing up over 5?
