Awful news in Yankeeland today. As first reported in the Post, two Yankee officials, Oscar Acosta (manager of the Rookie League Gulf Coast Yankees) and Humberto Trejo (the team’s point man in the Dominican), were killed yesterday in an auto accident. Acosta had led the GCY’s to the last two RL championships. We’re sure this will be a sad day in the Yankee family, and also around baseball, for the many players and officials who’ve worked with these two men, about whom we admittedly know nothing.
