And now, just hold on….
PS: Pedro plunks A-Rod. Booo.
I am so out of it that I had no idea the game was on. Boo me!
As for Pedro hitting A-Rod, it looks like he also hit Cairo and walked a bottom-of-the-order guy to load the bases, gave up a double, a couple of singles, so just from the box score I can’t imagine there was any intent whatsoever.
Back to the bambino, non-cursed kind.
Wow, tie ball game, at least for the moment. Will Curt Schilling pitch tonight?!?
Ortiz got hosed on that check swing call…
It would only be so that Esteban Loaiza, he who is this year’s Aaron Boone, might get tonight’s win, should that pan out, thus justifying his horrifying presence on the Yankees roster.
Okay, he was in there, but now is when he decides to become a basestealer?
Yes, it is, since he was, as you say. “in there”. Not a terrible play, with the bottom of the order coming up. Is it just me or did it look like the 2nd base ump was making an out call no matter what happened? He was awfully emphatic on a play where he could not possibly have seen the true result. A shame, Ortiz has been on the bad end of two calls tonight.
It makes very little sense that Doug Mirabelli isn’t in the game. Francona could have effectively double-switched after last inning. This could kill the Sox.
All I can say is…
Can David Ortiz pitch?
Ugh. Loaiza pitches fine relief, the Yanks, as usual, can’t do a thing against Wakefield, and then Ortiz fists what looked like a Mo cutter from Esteban’s hand (pretty good pitch, actually) for a dying duck blooper to win it. Frustrating. Gordon looks tense out there at this point (walking Millar was inexcusable, esp. after an 0-2 count), but how long can Joe go to Mo for two before his arm falls off? Tomorrow will be interesting to watch.
