We are one-quarter of the way into a veritable glut of rivalry baseball, with the Sox having drawn first blood, ending the Yanks’ longest win streak of the year. Boston has now won two in a row themselves, and look to make it three in a row for the first time since August 11-13th. It’s a feast for those who have time to watch. Then again, by tomorrow night maybe even Mr. Banks would say, “Enough is enough.”
The oft-maligned Julián Tavárez gets the ball for the second game against the also oft-maligned Randy Johnson. Derek Jeter is still up to something. Hopefully, regarding David Ortiz, Yankee fans have learned to not poke the bear. Fortunately, he is getting a rest in game two. Are your fingers worn down to nubbins from blogging all this baseball? Good on you. Lineups are in the extended. Comment away.

Strong first inning for RJ.
Agreed YM: good 123.
Melky with the lead-off single.
Tavarez’s cap is disgusting. Did he steal Nixon’s?
Jeter with the FC; Melky out at 2nd.
Abreu advances Jeter with a ground-out. Abreu up.
ARod scores Jeter on a single to center. Nice job, Álex.
It’s not a clutch single, though….Does it count?
Going off-line for a bit. Catch you later, YM.
The White Sox lost again. How long before the pinheads at ESPN stop picking them to win the Central?
Holy…I just checked in on the USC/Nebraska game, and some USC dude is on the ground with his leg twisted completely sideways from the knee down. There go the ligaments….OUCH.
And the tainer runs out, looks at the player’s knee and says “well there’s your problem”…
Bad taste, I know, but this Sox lineup is enough to make me sick.

How did Manny sneak into the field?
Wow, who’s that slugger batting in AGon’s spot tonight?
Just returned from the local bar, where i warched the first 3 innings of this one. Frustrating that Guiel wasn’t able to bring in Jorge in the 2nd. But more impressively, JETER GOES TO 25 after hitting into an fc and scoring in the first!!!! He looked aggressive in both at bats, in the second, he came out swinging on pitch one, took two balls away, and then, with the count in his favor, you could feel Tavarez was going to give him a chance with something–and that he was going to hit it hard. He did, a single up the middle. Pumped fists and high fives all around.
Too bad it’s now 3-1 Sox.
3-3 now :-) You obviously should never be allowed to watch at a bar…you ruin everything!
Why do most Red Sox have icky facial hair?
I got DJ his hit didn’t I? And this thing is tied up. Seems the bar wasn’t so bad!
YF, get your butt back to that bar!
Leche! Who needs bars?!
YF is at the milk bar!
Is that like a Clockwork Orange milk bar? ‘cuz I could use one of those right now…
Trip for Giambi! 6-5.
(Okay, ball should’ve been caught, and Jason gets third on the throw. Whatevs.)
And Jorge rips one to push things to 7-5 courtesy Manny Delcarmen. In the words of Marv Albert, Yesssssss.
“Is that like a Clockwork Orange milk bar?”
Just stay away from the phallic statues.
YM…serious about the icky facial hair? Anyone need to be reminded of the Jason Giambi Mustache Experience?
Quo, please don’t remind me. Everytime I saw that, I momentarily wondered when I started getting the porn channel…
Hehe. Sal Fasano is truly the only MLer who looks…at home with that mustache.
