Dominic DiMaggio, RIP

One of the three names I remember being mentioned most by my dad while I was growing up (along with Bobby Doerr and Ted Williams) The Little Professor is dead at 92.

  • Dad always spoke of him quite fondly.
I had a chance, 10 or so years ago, to get an autographed baseball. We shared a mutual friend. But I blew it and never followed up. One of my big regrets.
The tribute tonight at Fenway should be terrific.
If you’ve never read it, do so:
Worth the read, even to you YFs. Or course, everything by Halberstam is worth the read.
I can’t imagine the pride the parents of Dominic, Joe and Vince must have felt.

  • Timing.
Dommy’s death has only reminded me of my youth, when baseball was prefect.

  • Dom D was a terrific player and a class act.
