Don’t Look Back: Yanks-Rangers Gamer II

The Yanks won last night. Let’s not dwell on the shakiness of the bullpen (the fact that it looks like the magical run of Aaron Small is coming to an abrupt end, that Mo looked way too hittable, etc). They won (although it kinda felt like they lost, but nevermind) and a win’s a win. Tonight, Shawn Chacon is on the mound. He’s bounced back from a poor start of the season and is looking more and more like his 2005 self. Let’s hope that trend continues. Comment away…

  • And Jeets down on the sinker. Loe mixing it up good thus far.

  • But Giambi not fooled on the hanger away. 1-0 Yanks.

  • Those FSN Southwest announcers suck.

  • Seriously. “Yankees in their traditional away greys… with dark navy blue lettering.”

  • So much for the lead.

  • Drinking game: every time Mensch/Mattingly dinger streak mentioned, chug.

  • Nice catch, Johnny.

  • Johnny!

  • Guess I am glad the volume is off.

  • “He took an extra base hit away.” Well, it was a nice catch and all, not easy, but that was a very catchable ball for a decent pro. He doesn’t catch that it’s an error.

  • Looking at the replay: again, nice catch, but if he really hoofs it right to the spot from the outset, there’s no need for the theatrical grab. Torri Humter makes that with his eyes closed.

  • Matsui takes a defensive swing for an easy 4-3.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:32 pm
  • YF: You’re right. Hunter would have run to the spot without tracking the ball and been standing where it came down.

  • Cano is too quick to get caught in the DP.. DeRosa should have tossed it to short; would have been end of the inning. Cmon Bernie.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:36 pm
  • Bernie hits a chopper right at Texeira who knocks it down and plays it himself to end the inning.

  • Chacon is facing the bottom of the order in the bottom of the 2nd. He needs a quick 123.

  • Slugfest in Boston. 7-3 Sox at the moment.

    YF May 6, 2006, 8:39 pm
  • Wilkerson K. Heard that before?

    YF May 6, 2006, 8:40 pm
  • That’s just a great play by Texeiara.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:46 pm
  • Jeter behind quick. Stands in for the 0-2 and takes what should have been strike three. What is that ump watching?

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:48 pm
  • Loe should be pissed. That was a dead-on strike. It bodes poorly for both teams when the ump is that asleep.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • Chacon k’s Texeira to end the inning. Nice pitch.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 8:55 pm
  • Cano with a toss to Jeter to end the threat. Nice play. Very close.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 9:15 pm
  • What was that eephus toss? Cano trying to get Jeets spiked?! Not clever. Or maybe too clever. By half.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • Have to go. Good luck, Yanks. Let’s hope that strike zone becomes something respectable, watching that first pitch to Cano.

    attackgerbil May 6, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • That makes up for it. Sort of.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • Bunt? Please God no. NOOOO.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:40 pm
  • Awesome! Pitch out to nobody! Reason not to bunt #4,574.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:41 pm
  • Yes, Derek!! Captain Clutch!

    Spidey May 6, 2006, 9:42 pm
  • And Jeter singles in the run. If anyone is wondering why you don’t bunt in the previous situation, here you go. A “sucessful” bunt by Jeter and there’s now 1 out and a man on second, no ru scored.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:42 pm
  • Man. Giambi had a good cut there.

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:45 pm
  • A-Rod with the GIANT BOMB!!! 5-1. Now, can we hold on…..

    YF May 6, 2006, 9:47 pm
  • 6-1.
    Must. Hold. On.

    YF May 6, 2006, 10:07 pm
  • Enter Tanyou. One out in the 7th. Man on 2nd. Holding breath….

    YF May 6, 2006, 10:25 pm
  • The Proctologist in. And Andy Phillips replaces the Giambino.
