We always love it when the Big Boys mess up. Makes us feel better about our own shortcomings:
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Wang Chien-ming won his fifth consecutive game to pitch the New York Yankees to a 1-0 road victory over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
It does read awkward by way of western familiarity, but it is a forgivable, culturally respectful error if it was really an error. In Chinese, surnames are written first followed by given names.
Beat me to it, AG.
“Wang Chien-ming won his fifth consecutive game”.
he took an ND 3 starts ago against the sox, i’m guessing that would make the 5 wins non-consecutive.
Of course, it wasn’t his fifth consecutive win either. Unless that’s the really big error. But this stuff happens all the time. Remember when ESPN erroneously called Schilling a former Cy Young award winner?
> “Wang Chien-ming won his fifth consecutive game”
I see; that makes sense. Apologies to Paul for my lack of depth.
All I know is that it’s not hard, a. To Google a guy’s name, and b., Check his gamelogs in the first three weeks of the season.
I’m pretty sure Reuters has access to the Interwebs, even in Europe.
Horse-Iron thinks you are being too hard on Reuters.
Oh yeah, and that was my 8th consecutive thoughtful post on this site…
ih- i think you’re forgetting that one post where the bullpen came in and called atheose a dick. ;)
Hahahahahahahaha!
HOLY SHIT Barry Zito is being moved to the bullpen! omg omg omg.
