Eyes of the Nation: Sox-Royals Gamer II

Josh Beckett follows up Anibal Sanchez’s no-hitter with his start today. What does that have to do with anything? Well, not much really, but since the two were traded for each other, I’m sure it’ll get mentioned during a highlight show or two today.

Here’s hoping Beckett puts the critics in their respective places.

  • Well, Beckett’s been OK, not great, the Sox’ offense has been making another 5+ ERA pitcher look like Johan Santana, but Dustin Pedroia just his a home run. Congrats to him! Maybe that’ll earn him some breathing space from the EEIdiots who have been asking whether he’s been overmatched (not sure if it’s actually been said on EEI, but I read it in places that I equate with EEI)…

  • Beckett blows. Will go down as worst trade in a decade- worst trade since Varitek and Lowe for Slocum. Good move, Lucchino (to his credit, I’ve heard and read this trade is what made Theo quit last November.)

  • Great decision by Tito to pinch hit Kapler for Trot.
    Another wasted opportunity.

  • Lowell reached on questionable single to lead off the bottom of the 11th.
Murphy to run, Crisp will bunt (pops up the first pitch)

  • Loretta walks, then Cora grounds into a double play. But Cora takes out the pitcher at first.

  • The Babe’s cutting remarks hurt me in my very soul. How can I reply to such a witty set of words? Thank you, The Babe, for showing us the way and the light.

  • In the NL, we’d be leading the Mets by 60-odd games, I bet.

  • The Royals have been real spoilers lately.
Their record against .500 or better teams has been impressive.
I was going to say “against playoff contenders” but then that would eliminate the Red Sox.
