Felix Navidad!

In the words of another Felix (Unger) we’re “happy and peppy and busting with love.” Congratulations to Misters Escalona, Matsui, and Leiter, along with the rest of the Bombers, on a stirring comeback in the Bronx.

  • Typo. Apologies. But for the record:
Happy and peppy and bursting with love,
Dancing and singing to heavens above,
Jumping and rolling like a little pup,
If they knock me down, I’m gonna bounce back up.
Happy and peppy and feeling so swell,
I’m gonna answer answer when I hear the bell,
I’ll knock down defeat with fury ferocious
    Happy, precocious and swell.

  • Wasn’t the other song from that “Odd Couple” episode “Let’s Hit Hitler Where He Lives”? I thought that was a far better song* – especially when Ann Margret (or whoever the “special guest” was that week) did the slow cabaret version of it.
Funny how many times they’ve tried to redo “The Odd Couple” both in theatre and on TV with slight tweaks to the formula (African -American Felix and Oscar, a female version of F&O) and it hasn’t worked as well as the original.
I even remember the episode when Felix wanted to film movies in his apartment and wound up filming a softcore porn? Ah, the innocence of the early 1970’s….
    * substituting “Steinbrenner” for “Hitler” makes the song better and more appropriate. :)

  • Ah yes. But the correct title to that diddy, according to oddcouple.com is “To a Sour Kraut” (see episode 78, “the songwriter”). The lyric:
Let’s hit Hitler where he lives
    America never forgives
    Let’s force him to surrender
    In incendiary splendor
Let’s hit Hitler where he lives
And now that we’ve officially had our first Hitler reference, well….
