YF’s Take: Fever Pitch Is a Balk

Going in, we thought (hoped) Fever Pitch would challenge Eddie and My Giant for the “Worst Sports Movie Ever” title. It’s not that bad, but the good newsq for Yankee fans is that the Sox magical season will now forever be associated with a treacley romantic comedy with a catastrophically bad soundtrack. Drew Barrymore. ever a trooper, holds up her end, but the producers should have dipped into The Jimmy Fund for some acting lessons for Fallon. The real problem, however, is writing that draws more cringes than the Mets bullpen. And the ending really, really sucks.

  • I dunno, I thought the ending was the best part :-)
But I was prety surprised with the movie too. I was dragged to it by the girlfriend and I figured it was going to suck pretty bad. But it was actually funny.

  • personally, i refuse to see this movie. no one who would put the two most horrible actors of all time ON THE FIELD during the sox’ world series celebration is getting even ten of my hard-earned dollars.
