Goin’ Fishin’: Marlins-Yanks Gamer I

Old Friend Joe Girardi returns to town with his red-hot Florida Marlins tonight, a team that is mid-molt but somehow putting together wins. Credit young stars like Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis (whom we all know) and the brand new Jeremy Hermida and Hanley Ramirez (well, we know where he came from). If memory serves, the last time these boys were in town was Game 6 of the 2003 WS. That didn’t go well. (We were there; it was not pleasant.) Insult to injury: Carl Pavano. Some retribution is in order. Let’s hope we get some tonight, behind Chien-Ming Wang. We’ll be watching. Join us, and comment here.

  • I think it’s interesting that reliever Riske got 3 games for hitting Duncan whereas starter Johnson got 5 games for throwing at (but missing) Perez. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I understand the difference in effective missed games, but it is still muddy to me as to how I come down on this call. I wonder if it will aid Johnson in his appeal. Any opinions?
