In case you missed Mind Game: How the Boston Red Sox Got Smart, Won a World Series, and Created a New Blueprint for Winning by the folks at BP, and Feeding the Monster: How Money, Smarts, and Nerve Took a Team to the Top by Seth Mnookin, Publishers Weekly has some good news. Herald hack Tony Massarotti is at present working on “Dynasty: The Inside Story of How the Red Sox Became a Baseball Powerhouse,” for St Martin’s Press, and it’s being pitched as “an in-depth, behind the scenes look at how the Red Sox became successful.” Seriously? Tony? A new idea? Anyone? Please???
Haven’t We Read that Already…..Twice?

You’re just jealous.
At least the books about the Yankees’ actual dynasty came about after it ended.
this has immediately rocketed to #3 on “my absolutely, positively do NOT buy this for Christmas” list. #1 and #2 are by someone named “Coulter”.
Ooo that could be a fun topic. What books ARE on you Christmas Baseball Book List?
For me, I have
1. The BP Red Sox book.. “Mind Game”
2. Fantasyland – I will join a league this year! I will!
3. Ted Williams: The Biography of an American Hero
4. The Bronx Is Burning – Cheaper and probably more intersting than the DVD!
Those are in no particular order…
… Everyone is blaming Yankees overypaying and resigning their own guys meanwhile The Angels —— are going to be overpaying Torii Hunter $80 million over five years to play centerfield. And, yes, the Angels now have $120 million tied up in centerfielders over the next five seasons. That’s just unnecessary.
Brude Levine is reporting on ESPN Radio that the White Sox have agreed to sign Scott Linebrink to a 4 year 19 Million dollar contract.
I don’t even know what to say. WOW is all I can think. I don’t think of Linebrink as a closer, but could this be the replacement for Jenks? Now that Hunter is gone, they can probably use Melky as their CF.
some how that Hunter contract will be the yankees fault. This signing indicates to me that the Angels had some serious cash hidden away to make a run at A-Rod. Signing their second free agent CF in two years was their second choice.
Those Damon and Matsui contracts look pretty good now, don’t they?
dynasty?…if you define “dynasty” as sustained dominance over a period of time, then i’d say “not yet”…it’s too soon, but would appear to be on that track…
