ugh. what’s the orc doing in there?
Considering he’s been one of the best and most consistent #5 starters in all of MLB, I would say he’s pitching.
Wake has a sore back.
Oh My Batman!!
Papi with the shot to the bullpen.
Ortiz blasted that, Lowell follows up with a shot to the wall, went to stretch it to a double and was tagged out at 2nd by Roberts.
i guess i should have asked:
what’s wakefield NOT doing in there?
oops. sore back. got it.
sorry!
Kevin Cash looks so much like Foulke, it’s scary.
No problem Z…seems like everyone has caught some sore back bug.
Pedroia is a NINJA
Nice job by Pedroia following up the play to throw the runner out at 2nd.
Tavarez using that delay delivery to mix up the batter.
Z, didn’t mean to jump on you like that, I’m just sick of people pissing on Julian when he’s really been a god send to us this year. I realize that’s not what you were meaning.
Anyone seen who we are thinking of bringing up on the 1st?
I am assuming it will be Bucholz, Ellsbury,???
Can we just end all the games now? Yankees down by 1, Seattle up by 1, we’re up by 1.
Perfect. Let’s call it a day.
I’m with you Lockland. But how does TB jump out in the first inning when we could hardly score at all?
Lock – Taking the old “if the playoffs started today” trick a little far, eh?
We didn’t get to hit against Phil Phailure.
TB has magical powers against the Yankees, just as it does with the elderly.
Sorry, that was uncalled for, but Phil does look real bad tonight, no control.
>I’m with you Lockland. But how does TB jump out in the first inning when we could hardly score at all?
Well they hit the ball. We couldn’t hit a damn thing off a t-ball tee the last few days.
I think the Yanks are having the emotional swoon following the series.
I guess the sore back thing really is contagious (unless that was a joke?). Either that or it was a serious mistake to have a Urdhva Dhanurasana day in Red Sox yoga class.
Now Hinske hits. He drives in Coco. 2-0
Hinske, pretty much my favorite Red Sock of all time. ;-)
It was meant as a joke Jackie, but perhaps it is time they start stretching that way.
Check Tito for his Jersey!
Yes Cash looks very much Foulke.
Cash grounds out to 3rd.
Before this weekend, I didn’t know Terry needed to, or bothered to, wear a real jersey under the pullover. For all I knew, he wore a black fishnet tank top.
Hinske being hoakie.
Hinske tries to dive for a shot from Payton. Hinske gets no air time and divets the ground.
Er, week. Not weekend, which is just now starting.
MLB doesn’t worry about the big problems, just the little things like a jersey under a pullover.
It takes a supreme lack of talent to make one miss Manny’s D.
People that are Hisnke’s size usually have no agility or mobility.
Hinske kept the thought alive on that play.
MLB prefers dealing with trifling matters over big problems because they are the only ones MLB has any chance at handling. And yet, they still botch them.
AG, Manny plays left field in Fenway better than pretty much anyone….
Now, any other left field is a totally different story.
Pedroia with an off balance throw, great scoop job by Youk to end the inning.
Lockland, I agree about Manny being great at Fenway, but that line ran by Hinske would look bad _anywhere_
Youk pegged. Guy seems to attract getting nailed by pitches.
Tavarez does not need to retaliate. We do not need any players suspended with the injuries we have.
Papi fouls the ball off his shoe. He was very close on that, had the HR swing.
Where did that ball hit Youkilis? He does have one of those hulking stances – it does seem to attract HBPs.
Youk caught it in the numbers.
Papi with a shot that is grounded off the hop. Poor play by Tejada allows the Sox to keep Papi on 1st, Pedroia started to third and back tracked after Roberts flipped the ball to Tejada at 2nd for the forceout.
Fielded the ball off the hop.
Lowell K’s.
I still think Youk looks like an extra from 300.
Drew is out, Kielty is in. Announcement on MASN was that Drew fouled a ball off his foot. I don’t remember that from earlier. Drew continues to make me shake my head in disbelief.
Hisnke K’s with two runners on to end the inning.
Persian or Spartan AG?
Hisnke with another play trying to prove he is not a gold glover.
Tejada with a shot over the monster.
Tie score.
Boo, birds.
With that beard?
Youk: “Persian cowards.”
Pedroia can’t get to the grounder, Millar advances from 1st to 3rd.
Runners on the corners.
I thought DP jammed his wrist on that play, but it looks like he is okay.
Lopez warming up for the Sox.
Mora with a grounder by Lugo.
3-2
Runners at 1st and 2nd. Still no outs.
A grounder up the middle, hits 2nd base, heads to the outfield.
Huff scores
4-2
Runners on the corners, still no outs.
Tek got a bit excited on that throw coming off the rundown.
Payton grounds out to 3rd. Catches Mora in a run down.
Runner advancing from 1st to third gets blocked (possible interference) and is not awarded home plate. Runner was blocked when Cash lobbed the ball to third over Lugo’s head.
Trembley is tossed for arguing that the runner was interfered with. Looks to have a case.
Meanwhile, Tavarez is done.
What was Trembley arguing? Why was he tossed?
That was Cash Gerb.
Whoops not Tek.. Cash rather.
Was there interference?
In a super wierd case of Deja-Vu, another grounder to third that pinches the runner between 3rd and home.
Thanks Rob.. missed that.
This team is back in suck mode. Dreadful. Such an unfun team to follow. Because the two most enjoyable hitters to watch are both suffering the offense is damn near unwatchable. Add in Drew’s powerlessness and Lugo’s off-year and that compounds the problem. And now, injuries. It’s like last August all over again.
And honestly, I don’t share the Tavarez love, at all. He shouldn’t start another game.
It looked like interference. Lugo did a good job of blocking him from advancing. The third base coach was waving him around.
I think the O’s mistake was that they did not make an effort to head for home. He bumped into Lugo but did nothing really to advance other than bump into him.
Yeah, strange to see two pickles in a row.
No prob Gerb.
Not sure if your watching SF, but it has been horrible. Hinske is making Manny look like Jackie Robinson. A dreadful dive and a big “half jump” that put the runner on prior to Tejada’s bomb.
I am not sure I would call them true pickles AG. The O’s did a horrible job of advancing runners to third base that did not allow the original runner to return to third.
not watching, rob, but I am following the game online. I am so tired of bad baserunning, not scoring when there are men on with nobody out, poor fielding, and julian tavarez. I think my low confidence level is somewhat justified at this point, having seen a great deal of play this year. They are good, but I am not sure they are all that great.
The first two batters this inning (Cora and Hinske) both draw walks.
Baltimore pitching change.
>I think my low confidence level is somewhat justified at this point, having seen a great deal of play this year.
I agree. After the last three games, especially the last two in particular that we are that poor offensively because Manny is out of the game is insane. Hinske and Drew have me so frustrated I want to scream.
My wife thought I was crazy the other night when I was talking to myself during the Yanks series.
Runners on 1st and 2nd, Lugo pops out (what a shocker) to Millar.
Cash up.
Ba-da-bing
Cash grounds into the DP (on cue) to end the inning.
Two leadoff walks stranded.
Hinske fields a flyball cleanly.
this team with this lineup and jt starting is not much of a threat to anyone, frankly.
Obviously J.D. Drew is not the only rallye killer on this team and obviously we do not need Manny to ground into DPs. Another game full of missed opportunities.
Timlin comes in. Game no. 1000!!
Congrats Timlin.
Mora singles off Timlin. Runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs.
Hernandez singles past a diving Lugo. Runner held at 3rd, all loaded up.
Payton up….no outs.
On a more positive note: Sonnanstine just retired the Yankees 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 6th. Satanfish up 6-1!
Payton with a fly to shallow right. Kielty with a throw to home that is just slightly late as Huff slides in head first.
Mora advances to third on the fly.
1st and 3rd, one out. 5-3
Timlin walks Roberts, bases loaded again.
Timlin runs Patterson to 3-0.
Fly to left, Hisnke catches on the run.
Run scores on the SAC, 6-3.
Snyder up and warming.
Nick Markakis fulfills the role of the executioner and ends the misery. A three run homer to right knocks in three to make the score 9-3.
Next batter with a shot to deep center that Coco tracks down, runs into the wall and drops the ball.
The sound was pretty bad. Coco holding his arm, looks like he knocked the wind out of himself.
If Coco has to be removed who goes in? Manny is out, Drew has already been removed from the game. I think the only player left on the bench is Cora.
We also have Tek.
Snyder now in. Timlin with a disaster on game 1000.
Millar pops out to mercifully end the inning.
Coco singles to lead off the bottom of the 6th.
wow – I left for two seconds and the wheels came flying off…
Tampa Bay still leading 6-1 after 7. Coco on. I have faith in the O’s bullpen. With the full lineup this would still be doable, but not tonight probably.
Hinske grounds to 1st, Coco cut down at 2nd. Would have had the DP, but Millar bobbled the ball trying to throw it to 2nd.
Lugo 2-20 over his last five games.
Lugo grounds into the FC, Hinske out at 2nd.
Cash strikes out to end the inning.
Snyder walks Huff to leadoff the inning.
nice that the hitting and pitching fall apart at the same time
maybe we can score like thr rangers did against this bullpen
Not sure that is possible. We have looked just pathetic the last few days.
Snyder gets out of the inning stranding two on base.
Pedroia with a double that is misplayed by Patterson in center.
Youk with an RBI single driving in Pedroia.
9-4
Papi walks. Runners at 1st and 2nd.
Lowell up.
Lowell flies out to left.
Pitching change with Kielty coming up.
Kielty goes down.
Crisp nubs one, then beats the Pitcher to 1st.
Bases loaded.
Hinske up
yuk.
Hinske almost pops out to 1st.
Hisnke with a bloop to right field, Markakis misjudged the ball went it got trapped in the wind.
Scores two, runners at 1st and 3rd. 9-6
Bardford in from the Baltimore bullpen.
Lugo up.
Lugo grounds out to 3rd, inning over.
TB wins 9-1 over NY
Tek looks like he is getting ready to PH next inning.
Small delay here in the B8th…
The MASN announcers say there is an “idiot” on the field. He ran on the field during Sweet Caroline.
I wonder…was it Millar?
Tek PH’s…first pitch right back to Bradford to make the out.
Pedroia singles up the middle.
Youk gets drilled AGAIN, right on the outside of his left knee.
The positive side of it is that Papi is now up.
I jumped…Papi caught up to one, but hooked it foul.
Papi then promptly grounds one back to Bradford, who throws it to 2nd, and then on to 1st to turn the inning ending double play.
Just got home. Good God, Timlin, what the hell did you do?!
Rain now falling at Fenway.
He threw meatballs and balls Jackie.
Youk beaned twice tonight. From henceforth he will no longer be known as the Greek God of Walks, but the Greek Beanie Baby.
MDC is out of the game, Papelbon is going to get some work in this week.
Looks like.
From henceforth he will no longer be known as the Greek God of Walks, but the Greek Beanie Baby.
I feel compelled to note that Bobby Kielty’s nickname in Oakland was Troll Doll. We just need a Cabbage Patch kid to make the set complete.
Papelbon just beaned Ramon Hernandez. Thanksfully Paps is not tossed.
Shocking is that there is no warning issued, the ump did not walk the batter down to 1st.
Paps walked right towards home, Hernandez stepped out of batters box and walked towards 1st. No glares, no words, no actions from either side. Pretty good example of the players policing the game.
Papelbon seemed angry yesterday that Joba had thrown two pitches over Youk head. So he must have been livid in the bullpen watching Youk getted beaned tonight.
Will be interesting to see if there is any reaction out of the league office, but not sure if they can suspend anyone with someone getting tossed out of the game.
The Cabbage Patch doll may be Hinske, or Pedroia. But I think Pedroia falls more along the Gecko from Geico or teh Chicken Hawk from Foghorn-Leghorn.
Papelbon walks Roberts, bases loaded.
Patterson with a long fly ball to the right-center gap that Coco runs down and snags. Inning over.
Bottom of the 9th coming up.
Atheose isn’t here so GOD BLESS COCO
man Coco’s range is insane. he may suck at the plate but that guy can play some D.
Lowell with a leadoff single off of Baez.
Cora singles to left.
Crisp up
Does he really suck that badly at the plate? He did at the beginning of the year but he’s been getting better I thought. Maybe just wishful thinking.
Crisp deep fly to center. Lowell to third.
ok, well Hinske and Lugo. Yuck
Hinske singles to right. Lowell scores, runners on the corners.
9-7
Lugo up.
my apologies to Hinske
Nice spot for Lugo to get it with a walkoff homoer.
homer
now if we’re going to talk about sucking at the plate…. here comes Lugo
Lugo with a grounder that Mora misplays, scoring another run.
Runners at 1st and 2nd with Tek up(?) and still one down.
Tek grounds into the DP to end the game.
Damn
Shocking is that we managed to get 15 hits. Really did not seem that way.
these double plays just have to stop
My god, how do the Yankees have a losing record against this team?
