Horserace

It took some time, but the AL East has finally matured into the three team race we expected at the beginning of the year. The Sox (47-30) are 2.5 up on the Yanks (44-32) and 4 over the Rays (44-35). The only other team in baseball over 44 wins is the Dodgers, at 49. Meanwhile, the Jays are still hanging in at a respectable 3 games over .500 (41-38) and even the lowly O's have been putting up a decent fight (35-42), which isn't anything to get excited about but not altogether tragic either, given the very difficult divisional competition. Looks like this one's going the long haul, and there's going to be one very disappointed team. Win and Place and you're alright, but Show gets you nothing.

Just checking in to let everyone know I’m boycotting baseball today after that abomination last night.
I suspect that will last until roughly 1:35 Eastern time.

That’s exactly how I am. At least you guys have an afternoon game.
Speaking of which, I have two tix (sec 409, row 4) I can’t use to the 1pm Yankees game on Friday for $40 (face value). Email me at mind2brain at the google letter service. They’re also up on StubHub (cheapest non-auction) but if you email me you won’t have pay their fees.

cheer up paul, it’s only one game, although i understand the angst over how it went down…if it’s any consolation, the yankees have had some clunkers in the not too distant past…it’s part of the game…
“…What happened last night? Did it rain?…”
yes sf, it was raining orioles runners all during the 7th and 8th innings… ;) all morning i said i wasn’t going to rub it in to you guys…sorry, i can’t help myself…but like i told paul, it’s just one game, you still have a 2.5 game lead, and your guys are pros, they’ll shake it off…

Not that I minded a decade of Sox, Yanks & Nobody Else, but I have to say: now that the Rays have arrived and are poised to compete for some years to come, the East has gotten even more fun to watch.

Holy crap, we get daytime baseball? And Beckett is on the mound? Sweet jumpin’ moses!

That game sucked last night, the only consulation was that my brother drove there from Philly area, and was able to move down to right behind the camera well on 3b line. So, good for him, he like the first game (before the rain delay) didn’t like the second as much. ugggh.
