  • Right after Theo picks up Boone.

  • The Red Sox are going to pick up Bob Boone?!?! They already have a catcher!

  • SF, I think he means Ray Boone, geez.

  • Yeah, but I hear they’re going to package Manny and Tek for Cameron and Piazza. Then they can let Damon go next year.

  • As long is it ain’t Pat Boone. Or Mary Boone.

  • SF, I can’t believe you just said Pat Boone is better that Mariano Rivera. What’s the matter with you?

  • Over in the Man Oh Manny thread, no Sox fan seems to want to think about what major leaguers the Sox system has produced, or hasn’t produced, in the last decade.
Manny? Free agent. Ortiz? Free agent. Damon? Free agent. Millar, Meuller, Renteria …

  • Wright, Womack, Pavano, Leiter. What’s your point, again? That Theo (and Dan Duquette) sign(ed) better free agents? And check the other thread for a substantial response to your unsubstantiated attack.

  • The Sox system did produce several guys who were traded at one point or another before logging time in Boston (e.g. Bagwell, Schilling) and–off the top of my head–one shortstop who was pretty good at one point in time.

  • You know my point, SF, you just don’t want to admit it. Sox fans are secure in the belief that the Sox farm system is better than the Yankee farm system, but for players now in the major leagues, the Yankee farm system has produced more top players, more top players on the respective teams, and more success.
I’d forgotten about Schilling – interesting reminder. Of course Leiter was an 18 year old Yankee.

  • Re Nomahr: Could the Sox have won the WS with Nomahr? I remember many good games against the Yanks, and some great seasons, but the team benefited from his leaving.
Was he over the hill? Had he developed a bad attitude? Was he the same Nomahr as ever?
BTW, when we did the Save Fenway design, a terrible punster on the design team who was in charge of parking came up with the No More Garage Parking concept (pronounce “garage” like your Italian).

  • …in the credits of a Car Talk, they included “And the director of Red Sox automobile upholstery maintenace, No More Carseat Repair-a.”

Have I ever argued otherwise? Seriously. You make completely unsubstantiated allegations. Read the other thread. Search the site. I have never, ever, ever, ever said the Sox’ farm system has done a better job than the Yankees’ the last 10 years. Perhaps 1% of all Red Sox fans, including even the most biased, cretinuous, and abjectly ignorant Red Sox fan, would cop to that assertion. I may be on the fringe of that 1%, but surely not in it.
Looking forward it’s something different. These are two separate discussions, I wish you could successfully process that information.

  • SF –
If you’re going to jump in the middle of threads, you have to read the threads. You are not the only Sox fan here, for better or for worse.
Other Sox fans make a point, I brilliantly refute the point, you jump in with non-sequitars, and then say, “I never said that.”
    It’s a pattern.

  • John, you address me in your accusation. Or is “SF” a generic term? You and YF are peas in a pod. He refers to himself in the third person, you simply call yourself “brilliant”. Really flattering.

  • SF,
    ADD?

  • If Giambi can turn Boone on to the same “Doctor” that has revived his career, then Boone would be a solid pick up.
According to Giambi in the NY Times, it only takes playing hard and working hard.
And finding a new lab now that Balco is out of business.
