If/Then

IF Kevin Brown pitches well in his first post-season start, THEN we’ll hear ad nauseum about how the broken hand was a “blessing in disguise”, getting him rested for the playoffs.

IF Terry Francona starts Curt Schilling in Game 1 and he loses, THEN the Boston media will be all over him for not starting Pedro.

IF the Red Sox face the Yankees, THEN we’ll be bombarded with stories about Pedro’s imminent move to the Bronx.

IF the Yankees face Johan Santana, THEN it’s unlikely they will be facing a relief pitcher in the bottom of a sixth inning.

IF the Angels suffer an offensive blackout or allow a couple of accidental extra base hits, THEN their management will have a lot to answer over the Guillen suspension.

IF the Red Sox face the Astros in the World Series, THEN the Sox will finally be able to exorcise their Clemens Demons.

IF the Sox win the World Series, THEN…aw, forget it.

  • May I finish? If the red sox win a world series then 86 years of pure agony will turn into one moment that will hold the greatest joy imaginable. Good thing we’re definately not the Cubs. Now that’s a team that’s cursed.
