In Progress: A’s-Yanks Gamer II

It’s a beautiful day in the city and I’m on my way out to enjoy it. But if you’re stuck inside and wish to comment on the game, this is your Saturday afternoon gamer.

Kei Igawa just sent the light-hitting A’s line-up down 1-2-3 in the first. All signs point to something big (I’m not going to say it) happening today. Go Iggy!

  • Igawa perfect through two with a pair of strikeouts. There’s a reason Oakland is only a game above .500 despite boasting what is far and away the AL’s best starting rotation: They can’t f*cking hit; Chicago’s the only AL team with fewer runs scored, and only Baltimore, KC, and Chicago boast worse OPS’s.

Like I just told my friend I was surprised how Oakland took the lead until I saw who was pitching.

maybe this team needs to get nohit to wake them up.

So THAT’S what would wake them up?

  • How did Igawa pitch? Just got in. Nice way to build on that “2” game winning streak. Sigh.

  • The Kendall HR reminded me a lot of a situation in a recent Rockies-Cubs game. Ted Lilly was in his 6th inning of work. Jamey Carroll hit a HR.
When these kinds of guys hit HRs…your pitcher is done. …pull em. Whatever had given them success that day has checked out.
