It’s Official: Clutch Kings

Thanks to the fans at mlb.com and Pepsi, which is where I always turn for baseball insight, we now know for certain that Big Papi and Mr. November are two of the most clutchiest clutchers that have ever clutched.

  • So let me figure this out:
Jo Santana who is 1-1 in his post season career, and lost the only game he pitched this year in the post season, as well as Joe Nathan who has given up 5 runs over 11 post season innings pitched are clutch?
I get the idea that Santana is a great player…but what about Mo? Nathan’s a really awesome closer…but Mo?

  • They must drink a lot of Pepsi Clear in Minnesota.

  • Yes, but the drink the “clear” not knowing what they are drinking, so you can’t blame them.

  • Any state that can produce Governor Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Garrison Keillor must be drinking something.

  • Still also trying to figure out how Carl Crawford, who may not have pleayed a meaningful game in his life is somehow more clutch than former World Series MVP Manny Ramirez. Assuming you actually believe in “clutch” as a measurable attribute of course, which I don’t except in extreme Ortiz- and Pujols-like cases.
