Yesterday’s sound thrashing of Buehrle was good stuff. After today, through six games @ TOR, the Red Sox will leave town with at worst a 3-3 record against them on the season.
But wins in May count, too, and the Blue Jays are hurtin’. The wins have gotta come from somewhere, and going 4-2 against the pre-season favorites at their house while they lack full firepower works nicely.
Dempster vs. Happ. Comment away!
Happ threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball (one of only two games where the Sox never scored) last time out and is a relatively effective pitcher, lifetime. Papi sitting against the lefty on turf. Ruh roh.
2-1 Sox after 1.5, Happ is wild and over 50 pitches already.
Dempster is wild himself. Walks a couple of guys, 1 out, 2 on, Bautista and Encarnacion due up.
Walks Bautista on 5 pitches, yikes.
And he gets the DP on the 2-0 pitch to Encarnacion. Dempster is lucky to be at only 48 pitches after 3, still just the 1 run.
Happ lasts 3.2, leaves the bases loaded for Pedroier.
Who grounds to short. Still 2-1 Sox after 3.5.
Feels like Sox should have won this game 8-3, but instead they win it 3-1 with some serious tension in the late innings. (Is Bailey hurt? Hanrahan allowed a leadoff hit in the 9th before getting a popup and a DP.)
