Let’s Go Mets!

Pedro in Queens? Could there be any news more heartening to Yankee fans? The Sox stripped of their co-ace and Pedro imploding daily for the NY Tabs? Has there ever been a player better suited to become a Met? All for a mere $38 mil. Can I send a donation?

  • Everyone says Pedro is a 6-7 inning pitcher, but couldn’t going to the NL make him a 7-8 inning pitcher, what with the typically weak 8/9 spots? I think this is a reasonable move by the Mets, in fact. On the other hand, the Mets need a whole lot more than just Pedro…

  • Pedro and Sammy on the same team? A reasonable fantasy? The Post would need a daily gatefold on its backpage. If there be gods, this will happen.

  • How about a Post triptych? The local Dodgers’ a.m. station is reporting that despite their public support, the club is desperate to unload Milton Bradley after his latest arrest — and the Mets are a possibility. This could be the most fun in Queens since some of those Davey Johnson teams.

  • And we haven’t mentioned Anna Benson, wife of Kris, who told FHM she likes to get “hammered” during games and had this exchange with Howard Stern & Co. (as reported on Page Six):
Benson: ” I told him, cheat on me all you want. If you get caught, I’m going to s—w everybody on your entire team — coaches, trainers, players. I would do everybody on his whole team.”
Stern: “Mike Piazza just did a back flip….Even the coaches? What about, like, the bat boys?”
Benson: “Everybody would get a turn. If my husband cheated on me and embarrassed me like that, I will embarrass him more than he could ever imagine.”
    Robin: “What about groundskeepers?”
Benson: “If I’m lining them up. I’ll [also] circle into other teams. Whatever team he’s playing, I will s- – -w all them too.”

  • Apparently Anna doesn’t realize that to embarrass her husband back it might be advisable to NOT shag 24 guys, then batboys and groundskeepers, as well as potentially the entirety of the players’ union. Someone get Kris over to Scores and let’s see what we can start!
