Let’s Play Two: Fish-Yanks Gamers II & III

We’ll be away from our keyboard for most of the day, but we will most certainly be watching (or at least listening) to this afternoon’s marquis matchup between Dontrelle Willis and Mike Mussina (weather, again, permitting). Moose has struggled of late (0-2 in his last 3 stars, with a 7.14 era), but our guess is that some of this is the product of poor luck. So we expect a good outing today, in the humidity. Willis, conversely, has been pretty damn good in his recent outings, a return to form after a poor start. It will be interesting to see just who Joe throws out to face him on a double-header day. We expect Andy Phillips at first, and don’t be surprised if Bubba Crosby spells Johnny D in center for the opener, with Bernie as DH. In the second game, Shawn Chacon goes against rookie righty Jeff Fulchino, who has, best I can tell, exactly 2 batters of ML experience (one out, one walk). We’re not sure who rests in this one. Expect Stinnett for Jorge, and don’t be surprised if Alex gets a much deserved breather. Your place for comment on all the day’s (and night’s) action is here, though we reserve the right to launch a new evening game thread, if access to the grid allows. Comment away!

  • Any reason Giambi not playing first or DH? He was in the lineup before the delay.

  • Wasn’t Sanchez part of the Josh Beckett trade with the Red Sox? I think he was the player to be named later…if so this game is extra nice Florida 3, Yankees 0 in the 6th. But I am certain the Yanks will come back and win this game.
