Sox won a long one last night, the grittiest 11-8 win you’ll see this year, and the good part of the bullepn is gassed (and Aceves seemingly hurt). Breslow: 2.1, Bailey: 1.2, Tazawa: 1.0, Uehara: 1.0. Time for Doubie to come up big.
Making my nearly-annual pilgrimage to see the Sox in person tonight. When choosing the one game (arguable I can afford to go to even one game and only missing one bedtime with the kiddo), I chose the game I thought the Sox were most likely to win. Game 1: Lester vs. King Felix, no way. Game 2: Webster vs. Iwakuma, ewwww (missed a great game in retrospect). Game 3: Doubront vs. Harang, ah, okay, struggling righty (Sox better against righties, though Harang has been better recently) and the Mariners are a little worse against lefties and Doubront seems to have found it a little bit. Game 4: Dempster vs. TBA–probably Bonderman, eh, kind of a coin flip with the other game, and I prefer a night game for missing less time with the kid and the like (also I sunburn).
Anyway, maybe I’ll post a time or two at Safeco. Either way, comment away!
This is fun. :)
Good win!
Picked the right game, D, I guess.
Lesteritis, i.e. the inability to put hitters away on a two-strike count. Dempster afflicted as well.
Full count, single, two runs. And all of this shit with two outs of course.
62 pitches for Dempster after two!! 4-1 Mariners. Pathetic.
Two quick outs, then a walk, then a HBP. Dempster certainly not making it easy for himself.
And now as I write a single makes it 5-1. Another two-out RBI.
Seems like the Mariners are winning the race to 11.
Might as well leave this game unthreaded and leave it here. Sorry about that. Work and stuuuuuff. Stupid Mariners. It’s cool; the Sox will beat the snot out of them later this month or early next month or whatever at Fenway.
Feeling more and more smug about my choice of game to attend. Which is not saying much good about today’s game.
After a 3-run inning, it’s 5-4 M’s. Sox aren’t done scoring, but I doubt the M’s are either.
M’s score another. Steven Wright going in with 1 out and 2 on…probably won’t end well. This situation or the final score.
Tied! Sox refuse to lay down, good stuff, even if the pitching in this series beyond Doubront has been…suspect.
Tied at 7 going to the bottom of the 9th. Ugh. At least all the relievers got a day off yesterday.
They take the lead in the 10th!
Nursing that single run lead to get Wright a MUCH deserved win today, hopefully. Need 3 outs before they get a run.
WIN! SERIES WIN AT SAFECO, HOLY FUCK! 4-3 on the west coast swing. Take one from Oakland (like tomorrow) and I’m a happy guy.
