Loosening Up: Rays-Yanks Gamer II

Ivan Nova has come off his DL stint for “tightness” and will pitch for the Bombers today. The Yankees face James Shields, whose team has lost once in his last seven starts, and he is sporting a sub-2 ERA over that span. Feel loose yet? Comment away.

  • Nova coming up huge. Yanks offense doing OK. Alll good so far. I’m overseas so gotta crash with the Yanks up 4-1 in the 6th- if I wake up to a loss, I will cry…

  • Sweet. Yanks win, O’s losing 5-2 in the early going out in Oakland. Curious to see Cespedes when the A’s come to the Bronx this week. I still have hope, perhaps because I am a fool, that the recent performances of Nova and Hughes stick, that Pettitte comes back strong, and Kuuroda continues to be strong. The only question then would be what the hell is up with CC and can Teixeira make it back in time to play at least at 80% or so in the playoffs, should they get there. I can’t give up on these old farts. What else am I going to follow…

  • Unless Baltimore has a big rally in the 9th the Yanks will be alone again in 1st. Since Baltimore will own any tie-break (they’re almost certain to have a better record vs. AL East teams than the Yanks at this point, the Yanks need to be up by at leasst this margin to take the division. If they can get past Oakland this week with at least that large a cushion then the rest of the season schedule favors them…
