Lowe has been hot lately. He’s much much better at home than on the road, so holding him to game 3 is a reasonable decision. However, the flipside is that if he’s pitching with the Sox down 2-0 he may be a wasted talent. My point is that if the A’s beat Pedro tonight they are in the catbird’s seat, and if the Sox win, likewise. In no other series can that case be made. Let’s look: Are the Cubs all of a sudden at a gargantuan advantage after last night? If Prior was going tonight, then maybe. But he isn’t. So it’s an advantage, but not massive. Are the Twins? No way. The Giants? They are a much better team regardless, so it’s not a relevant issue in that series.
