Garza vs. Burnett. Let’s hope the good guys keep the Rays in single-digits tonight.

I’d love to see Swishy drive one into Garza’s nutbag here.
Right after he fouls one off Dick Vitale’s pointed head.
Garza needs 20 pitches to get the first out.
I see Swisher got his fourth ding. Maybe he’s allowed to smile, briefly.
Burnett needs three more outs before we can’t talk about it.
Burnett is, uhh, pitching well. Like a Norse Hammer.
Swisher added a double? Wow.
HFS that 6th was crazy. AJ through the Rays like butter w/ 2ks, you-know-what intact. command of the zone with the fastball, wicked curve. awesome.
Six innings over. Time to start not-talking-about-it.
If Burnett’s at 100+ pitches after 7, do you keep him out there? This early in the season, with his history?
cano overmatched there. garza looking just as good.
I always fear something like this will happen the day after the Yankees get their asses handed to them. I wonder if this is just my selective memory, or if they do bounce back in a big way.
ath: still a ways from there given he’s only hi 70s. we’ll see. i say 120 max, but not before if….
Nady single off Bartlett. Pena an fc. Hurry back Alex!
Yeah YF, 22 pitches will put him in triple digits, and that’s not hard for a strikeout pitcher like Burnett to do in one inning. I think I’m with you, 120 is my limit for him.
FSP, it does feel like this always happens after a blowout doesn’t it? Whenever the Sox score 10+ runs, the next day they’re always struggling to take the donuts off the board.
aaaaaaaaand the Rays announcer says No Hitter. It’s all over now.
Ath, the Rays announcer does not get to jinx it.
The question is whether Suzyn has said it or whether John Sterling even realizes it.

“Burnett no-hitting Rays through six innings”
NOW it’s officially been jinxed. I say the 2nd batter of the 7th does the trick.
mlb.com has put the two words together on it’s front page.
Ted Lilly took a Naked Horse into the 7th last night for the Chubs.
Crawford ends it.
and so it goes. all good things must end.
by the way, Manny would’ve caught that.
Booooo that’s lame, my mlb.com hasn’t caught up yet so I still see Crawford at the plate.
Swisher did the right thing. It’s a close game, you don’t want to try to dive and possibly let it go past him.
Pena singles in a run. Wheels falling off very quickly here.
Jesus, that tailing fastball that struck out Navarro was gorgeous.
Tex flashing some WTP. It’s enough for Gardner to tag up though.
I don’t know how “WTP” caught on, but I like it. Well, here’s the crucial 8th inning.
Zobrist fouls out to left – it’s amusing with the bullpen in the foul territory..
My brother played on the varsity highschool team as a sophomore, and everyone used to yell “WTP” (warning track power) whenever he would hit it deep. At the end of the season he finally hit a homer, and after that it all seemed to come easier for him. That’s my earliest memory of the term.
Burnett mows through the 8th with only 10 pitches. There’s really a huge difference in his performance from the stretch and from the windup. Mo should be all ready to go for the 9th.
AJ gets out of it. Let’s score a few insurance runs and let Mo clean it up!
Haha, actually, the same thing happened to me.. more of a speedy/gap hitter back in high school, so I’m all too familiar with the term.. just wondering how it caught on here at YFSF! ;)
Nice Lar. I was strictly a singles hitter in high school; I could take pretty much any pitch and tap it over the infielders’ heads. No power though, and only average speed. I was a rocking pitcher for a while though, until I went to varsity and totally stunk up the place. Shoulda done more long-toss.
Jeter and Tex have sub .250 averages, and everyone else on the team is overachieving. This is not right.
Gardner driving it to center field, and totally could’ve been a triple if it was not a ground rule double.
4-2 Yanks and maybe Gardner will earn some respect. Jeter trying to add to the lead with 2 outs, men on 2nd and 3rd.
Jeter hits a HR! 3 runs and now it’s 7-2!
Wow, they used a Ortiz-like shift on Teixiera batting from his left.. it worked though since he grounded out right to the “2nd baseman”.
Deadliest Catch debut was a good one.
This one’s in the bank.
Good night, YFs.
Mo sitting, not wasting his time on a 5 run lead. Fair enough.
Jeter’s on my fantasy team so I’m somewhat happy. Time for the Sox game.
Wow, haven’t seen Bruney pitched this year yet, but his fastball is kind of nasty..
Bruney strikes out the side with what seems like nothing but fastballs. Though it looked like the 4 run inning and 5 run lead demoralized them a little bit..
Bruney strikes out the side on 10 pitches. Damn near perfect.
