Okay, It’s A Bit About The Trades: Yanks-M’s Gamer

Bad news: Yankees didn't get Lee.

Good news: Yankees didn't give up Montero.

FANTASTIC news: Yankees don't face Lee tonight in Seattle.  Instead, they get up-and-down journeyman David Pauley while Phil Hughes goes for the Bombers at SafeCo.

Weird instance where I’m happy either way. It does seem like Seattle got the better package, but Montero has had the more advanced bat.
Career Minors:
Smoak – age 23 – .293/.411/.461 = .872
Jesus – age 20 – .309/.368/.486 = .855
Moreover, the PCL is a hitter’s league while Jesus had to play half his AA games in Trenton.
I’m glad to have Jesus aboard. Considering the Yanks are set at every position, and there’s no other starter near to Lee, I don’t think he’ll be moved this year. But it is tasty thinking about the arb-eligible players that could be had for him.
Best news of the day? David Pauley.

The only good thing about these West Coast games is there is plenty of time to pregame…
Prepare to meet your make David Pauley you scrub!!!
LETS GO YANKEES!!!

I don’t know how any SF can whine about the state of their team. What’s not to love about guys like Nava, McDonald, Dubront, and Atchison. Isn’t that what baseball is about? And even if the Sox are injured, they’re two games out! So why is this place empty? Sure, it hasn’t been a pitching and defense year, but it’s been fun all the same. The Yankees are on a 110 win pace and I’m still not convinced a similar injury spell wouldn’t send them tumbling right out of October. This is what crazy seasons are made of.

LOL Rob is back and shitting up the place again.
Perfect game in Philly right now. We may see a Pedro scenario, where he has to go into extra innings and then loses it.

2 hits of King Douchebag in the 1st…no runs but still. Have fun rotting in Seattle KD!!!
Oh, and Javy K’d Ich-i-DOUCHE too…I hate him.

We have a total scrub-squad lineup tonight against King Douchebag-won-nothing-ever…Colon Curtis, Cervelli and Pena are hitting 7,8,9. I guess this is what it feels like being in AAAA. Yawn.

hey now. i didn’t make the sign. just reporting it because it was funny. you act blissfully unaware that the rest of baseball fandom views your ballclub as 25 tools jammed into an expensive toolbox.
look, i get it. you’d root for aids if it wore pinstripes, but be prepared to have your balls busted over it.

Javy has given up 1 hit through 6…am I going to have to start trusting him now??? Great job so far.
We could use a few more runs. Bring the funk Yankees!

WTF???? 3-2 count, ball thrown and no walk??? I have no idea what the hell is going on right now…maybe the broadcast has the count wrong???

Don’t try and act as if you don’t say shit to get a rise…fucking idiot.
look guy, if you just wanna sit here by yourself and make up fanboy nicknames for all your favorite yankee crushes, i’ll be more than willing to oblige. some humility might help with that whole living in mom’s basement thingy you got going on.

No bullpen…Joe leaves him in and Javy gets out of it. This may be the moment where I actually gain respect for Javy and trust him.
Great job Javy. Outstanding game.

How many game has he blown this season? Meh…5-1 on the road trip so far with CC pitching tomorrow. Still in 1st, still the best record in MLB.

Well, this one is squarely on Joba. He blew the game. Again.
5-1 thought on the last west coast trip of the season with CC going tomorrow…work for me!!!

King Douchbag celebrates a HUGE win in July while his team is 50 games under .500 and has no chance of ever winning anything!!! CONGRATS ASSHOLE!!! You can pay the umpires and Joba in a few…
Let’s see how tomorrow goes Seattle you losers.

question of the day…when do they give up on joba…i just read something on espn that says the yankees are sticking with him as the 8th inning guy…for now…
espn also reported that bob sheppard died early this morning…sad

The Yankees management ruined Joba…hopefully they don’t do the same with Phranchise. Throw out the stupid rules immediately.
Really sad about Sheppard…man, what a life that man had.

So at the break, we have to feel really good about our starting pitching. The guys who had been struggling over the past month or so have come around (Burnett, Hughes). Pettitte and Sabathia have been consistently great. And Vazquez has become the pitcher we traded for.
Relief pitching, on the other hand, is a huge worry. Yankee relievers other than Mo have racked up a 4.70 ERA and 1.41 whip. I can’t be the only one thinking that Joba would be best served to go back to the minors. But he is instead still being counted on as the main set-up man. Robertson just gives up way too many hits (his BAA is around .300). He walks his fair share as well, but not considerably more than the last two seasons. The Sox overall relief numbers are worse, but they at least have more than one reliable guy with Papelbon and Bard. The Yankees have Mo and who knows?
Relief pitching has to be a huge frustration for a manager because of the lack of season-to-season consistency. I’d like to hear a candid interview with a manager on the subject.
The hitting so far this season has come from unexpected places. Cano has been the offensive star, with Swisher as the next best on the team. Gardner has been an on-base and run-scoring machine. The big names have been disappointments: Jeter, A-Rod, Teixeira and Granderson. Jeter has looked feeble at the plate since May. Granderson has never gotten going. A-Rod will have a mini-outburst but then lose it. Teixeira looks as though he’s getting into form. I’m not going to bash Posada’s season so far, as I think he’s having a fine season for a banged-up 38 year old catcher.
Biggest problems: Relief pitching and depth. One or two injuries could cause this team to struggle badly. And how long do we stick with the most unproductive regulars: Granderson and – it hurts me to say it – Jeter. At least we could acquire guys like a David Dejesus or a Stephen Drew to give us depth and allow us to give players rest without making the lineup terrible.
