What is that Japanese ad doing on the rightfield wall?! GEORGE!!! Please, make it go sayonara.
During today’s game, McCarver or Buck mentioned that it simply read “Yomiuri Giants”. I don’t think it’s intended as an ad, though I don’t think they bothered to explain what it was for. They called attention to it during one of Matsui’s at-bats.
Yes, I heard the Yomiuri Giants comment, but why do the Yankees need a Yomiuri Giants banner, and a giant one on the field, no less. Let’s hope this is just some dueling Matsuis promotion that will be gone by Tuesday.
And is it just me, or did Buck and especially McCarver seem positively giddy about the Mets win, and was McCarver then plotting what might happen after a Mets sweep (which he was practically assuming)? I found that less than journalistically reasonable, along with the assumption that George would necessarily “overreact” if the Yanks were to lose the series. I’m no great George fan, but fair is fair. It would have been nice if they focussed a little more on the reality that the Mets are facing the back end of an already weakend Yankee rotation.
