Pending physicals, YF, make it on rye, with mustard. And a cream soda, too.
SF, I can’t wait for your histrionics if the Yankees sign Beltran…
I just caught a snippet on the radio: is Kaz Ishii to the Yanks part of this deal, too?
Left Coast Dispatch:
Yes, Ishii is indeed part of the deal, though it’s absurd that the Yanks are getting anything in addition to the Unit. (While Ishii is too inconsistent to be an elite starter, he becomes a very nice addition to the bullpen and/or replacement for Kevin Brown the next time he either gets hurt or goes volcanic, whichever comes first.) The Dodgers’ salary dump is such a disgrace it’s got the normally low-key Dodger fans hopping mad. Amusing yet sad, when you consider the fact that the Dodgers have all the elements — talent, great attendance and a sweet cable deal — to be one of the real forces in the game, yet ownership refuses to spend the jack. Kind of makes this Sox fan admire the Boss. He puts his moolah where his mouth is.
A debt I’ll gladly pay, though, given last season’s results, SF might want to pick up the knishes and egg creams at Yonah Schimmel—out of sympathy, of course.
